For those of you who have had a rough past Christmas (one or many), what is one Christmassy thing that reminds you of a better time?

Vintage Christmas lights

I could easily have them up all year round. Hell, I would wrap my body in them, if I could. They give me comfort.

Listening to the yearly “discussion” about putting up the tree between Grandma H and Grandpa “Bonehead”! XD The tree “spun” too, adding to the drama…
My sister and I still bust up thinking about it :)))

Having my wife home for Christmas this year. Last year she was in a coma at the hospital and I didn’t know if she would live or not.

An orange, and waiting for my Dad and Grandparents to get in from the barn. We always had an orange at the top of our stockings, so we would see that. And dairy cows don’t care what day it is, so we had to wait for them to finish milking the cows before we could open presents. We would all get together for presents and then a great meal.

The smell of a Christmas tree, reminds me of when I was young. It was always my job to go with my Great Grandpa to pick out the tree. Sometimes throughout the year I will randomly smell Christmas trees(without one being around) and I always take a minute and stop what I’m doing to enjoy it. I know it’s grandpa there comforting me.

Being around cousins whose parents let them have gaming consoles in any shape or form.

Today, I actually stopped at this lovely Christmas tree farm that I’ve seen off the main road for years. Today was the first time I’ve had the time to stop. I just walked around, smelled the trees and took some pictures (especially of the flocked ones, which although I think is kind of a silly thing to do, I love how they look so realistic). We already have our nice, but fake tree up, so I haven’t smelled a real tree in a long time. It was nice.
