Have you referred a friend to Fluther?

Yes, I’ve referred several friends and family members. No one sticks, for some reason.

I came here based on several referrals from ex-ABers, and I later brought my wife and a mutual friend of ours here.

No, its my secret pleasure. Only my husband knows I Fluther, oh and my daughters and my son and ..no, that’s it.

I discovered Fluther a year ago lying around jet lagged outta my mind after a trip.

I’ve mentioned it to a few people but, as far as I know, they do not participate.

I’m rather selfish, really, I don’t want any of my friends or aquaintences here.

No, I haven’t referred anyone. I like the freedom of being able to rant about something that’s happened without a friend or family member seeing it.

I was referred here by a friend, who left shortly after.
I have referred this site to several others, and my niece was here for a bit, but none remain.

I’ve tried but the common reason to abstain is along the lines of ,they don’t want to use up a lot of time in front of a computer. Actually i don’t like it much but it’s usually late, and the best part of my days happened already….no offense.

Like many other Abusers (lol abusers) I was referred here by…someone…or some link…I forgot. But I’m sure someone cool told me about here.

I’ve tried to get a few people on here before. I had a boyfriend a little while back who I tried to get to come on here. He never did, and everytime I mentioned this place, or what someone said on here or whatever, he was all like, oh yeah, your super awesome question place haha. I also tried to get two friends to come on here, but they haven’t shown up yet. I doubt they will, seeing as I told them about Fluther quite a while back.
Thing is, I live in a French place, so I hang out with French people who, while they understand the English language, might not be so comfortable in a place that’s totally English. My ex boyfriend was fully bilingual, and so is my friend Sarah, her having lived like, everywhere in Canada, so maybe that isn’t the reason, but I kind of think it is. But maybe not. I denno. She just hangs out on Facebook all the time lol.

I’ve told my wife about Fluther, but her interest is so diffuse that she thinks the name of this site is “Flooder”. :-D

I think my aunt might really enjoy fluther, because she uses Yahoo answers and this is a way better version of the Q&A format. But a lot of the time I stay up fluthering late into the night, and I’m pretty sure she’d yell upstairs, “Go to bed!” Also, I’ve talked candidly about sex on here. My aunt is definitely my closest and favorite relative- key word being relative. On the other hand, lots of other people seem to have family members on fluther and make it work.

ddude does seem to be fitting in rather well!

JLeslie and I went to high school together. When I caught up with her on facebook years and years later, I noticed that a lot of her status updates were political or philosophical in nature, so I thought she’d be a perfect fit. I invited her to check us out, and I was right! :)

Of course, my kids are members, too: Fly, mangeons and laineybug (though they’re pretty darn busy during the school year, and not very active right now).

Another friend has visited a couple of times, but he doesn’t hang out here. If I see a Q in his area of expertise, I send it to him and he might pop in to answer.

Everyone else just… doesn’t get it, I think.

I’m the inverse. I have brought tons of people into my life from this site. I have met three in person. I have received things in the mail from about 7 people. I know a few peoples birthday and send them gifts every year.

But I would rather keep people I know from participating here.

Oh, and I build Dog’s computer. She painted me this in remembrance of my cat.

No, and I’d rather not. I’ve shared a lot on Fluther that I might not have shared otherwise.

Maybe I’m selfish, but I’ve kind of guarded Fluther away from my friends and family in real life. I now even go so far as to try to avoid using the site name in front of people because Fluther and Tumblr are pretty much the last refuges of mine online that haven’t been invaded by family and friends. I like that I can be myself here, that I can say whatever I want, tell whatever kinds of anecdotes about myself, without fear of being judged or whether something will be taken the wrong way, etc. I self-edit a lot in life, but Fluther and Tumblr are two places where I don’t have to do it so much.

N. I don’t necessarily want my RL friends to join Fluther. I like the fact that I can be completely honest on here and if my friends were to join I would be a lot more guarded.
