Any way to get a 6 pack even though I have a medical condition?

Asked by Vincent_Lloyd (3007points) April 9th, 2011

Okay well I know I’m young and it’s early to be thinking of stuff like this, but I mean….I want to do it, and I don’t want to feel bad about myself…I have a tracheal issue I’m not too sure if that will effect it or not, but is there any way? I’m willing to work on it. I “work out” I’m starting out slow though, just pull ups and push ups but I get enough works on my legs from my drumming (hardcore rock, heavy metal, metal. Double bass) So I’m pretty sure I’m good on that, but I do 20–25 push ups and 10–15 pull ups a day. I just need to work out on my abs or so…but still Is there a way for that even with my medical condition. I looked up some stuff on it and it said I needed to do lots of cardio but I’m not sure…Please, help?

The way to make a muscle bigger, and therefore more visible, is to work it. Crunches are the best way to work your abdominal muscles. I doubt if crunches would affect your trachea much, if at all. Cardio is the way to get rid of any fat that may or may not be hiding said muscles. If fat is an issue, doing cardio for at least a 3 to 6 days a week , will help immensely, especially if you are keeping your heart rate right around your target heart rate. This formula should help you find out your target heart rate. http://www.wikihow.com/Calculate-Your-Target-Heart-Rate
good luck!

This is something I’ve learned on MY weight loss journey, and I’ve lost 6 pounds in the last 3 weeks, so at a pretty healthy rate.

Since you are a drummer you are way ahead of the game with the workout you get playing. From there diet plays a big roll. Sugars and white bread are big time enemies of your six packness. Cut out all forms of sugars, sodas, Juices. Drink lots of water.

My favorite stomach routine is lay on the floor and lift your legs straight up and hand behind your head. Now lift your lower back 2“off the floor and repeat 30 times. You can add in a little crunch too by lifting your shoulder off at the same time. The key here is to work the lower abdominals that are very difficult to work.

I also will then bend my knees and let them fall to one side while keeping my back flat on the ground. Again hand behind your head and lift your head neck and chest straight up towards the ceiling. This is less of a crunch and focus on engaging your side core muscles.

When you are done doing your pull ups….hang there and do leg lifts and leg crunches. Do this religiously for 3–4 weeks and you will be packin! Good luck

Drumming is a huge deal on the legs. But don’t make that your only leg workout. I think I heard that legs are like 60% of the muscle in your body. So work them out more. By working out your legs more, you will increase your testosterone production dramatically. . . and test helps burn fat which will help reveal those sexy abs ;) good luck

Easiest way for you to get a six-pack would be to head for the nearest convenience store. Don’t forget to have a photo ID with you.

@WasCy I totally thought about making that joke… :D

You might look into pilates classes too. It’s all about core strength. :)
