Who here has thought about cannibalism?

Asked by rock4ever (1866points) May 8th, 2011

Be honest. Have you ever wondered what human flesh would taste like? I mean we’re the only mammals to really eat sugar and sweets, so what kind of affect would that have on taste? Also we’re omnivorous eating both vegetables and meat with some fruits. Just wondering if anyone else here thinks about it and wants to share their thoughts?

I bet it tastes like pig. Some farmers allow their pigs to eat donuts (sugar) as do humans. The contents of pig slop are equivalent to human food.

In many parts of the world, human meat has historically been referred to as “long pork”.

Most cannibalism has been practiced not as a primary or even secondary means of subsistance, but rather as a ceremonial event. There exceptions, however.

I did wonder but I stopped there.

Even if like eating raw meat [ not fresh kills ] I wouldn’t try human flesh

[ though there might come a time when someone will give me human flesh and saying “eat” without telling me what it is ... this because I got crazy friends and that I’m open towards anything ]

I wondered after I watched Silence of the Lambs.

Then I decided it was too fatty for my liking.

Just kidding, I have thought of what it tastes like, but I would never have the balls to act on it.

No thanks. Sometimes I think I would like to be a vegetarian.

I actually refuse to eat ham and most pork products because I can’t shake the idea that it is similar to what human flesh would taste like. I have no idea where that concept came from, but it is forever stuck in my head. No thanks.

Never actively. Large predators aren’t interesting to me as meals.

Only after reading accounts from the Donner party, if I’m ever in that situation I might think about it some more :-/

KateTheGreat's avatar

@Scooby My 11th grade history teacher was actually related to the Donner party! Her last name really is Donner. I thought that was incredibly cool.

@KatetheGreat
What a tragedy that was :-/ I wonder how it affected your teacher, did she ever speak of her family history at all ?
1846–47

KateTheGreat's avatar

@Scooby She talked about it a little bit. The descendants of the Donner family live in the midwest now. She didn’t really care about it because it wasn’t something that effected her life much. She just thought it was quite gross.

ragingloli's avatar

I have. And I have decided not to stop.

@KatetheGreat
Well, quite fascinating really from my point of view, shame she felt so detached…. Still I guess it could take over your life if you let it. It was after all a long time ago, maybe best left in the past :-/
Thanks for sharing ;-)x

@ragingloli
Any good recipes?? :-/

I’m quite partial to a little Chinese or Indian even, but I wouldn’t want to munch on a citizen of those two countries, or any other nation for that matter. Although those oompah loompahs looked very tasty I thought.

ragingloli's avatar

@Scooby
Nah, just marinate them and then grill them. Make sure you only use the meat from the young ones, as the adult’s meat is quite bad.

@ragingloli
I’ll pick some up tomorrow :-/
If I think on……

Thinking about it on a personal level as you suggest makes my stomach turn. On the other hand, seeing nets full of skulls over a fire-pit in a long house in Borneo was fascinating. It’s no longer legal there, but not that long ago it was a common practice. I didn’t ask how it tasted. That somehow seemed disrespectful of old customs in a country that is still emerging.

jerv's avatar

The closest I’ve come to wanting to eat a person is oral sex.

Then again, I am not much of a carnivore anyways except when it comes to bacon, and from what I hear, human flesh tastes nothing like bacon.

dxs's avatar

I’ve been curious, but never curious enough to actually eat it. Why don’t you ask Hannibal? He may have some extra liver to serve to you with a side of fava beans and a nice Chianty.

Berserker's avatar

@HungryGuy Lol he pooped her out. That was pretty cool when she was all melting and stuff.

I’ve wondered about what people tastes like. Also wondered what different parts taste like, such as flesh, organs, eyeballs. Biting into a liver seems pretty nasty, I wouldn’t try cannibalism, but the morbid curiosity is there lol.

HungryGuy's avatar

@Symbeline – Yeah. I knew you’d like that video :-p

ragingloli's avatar

@HungryGuy
How unrealistic. She would have suffocated within a few minutes after entering the stomach.

Berserker's avatar

If we’re gonna call out realism, I’d first point out that tiny people like that don’t exist. :p

jellyfish3232's avatar

Of course I’ve thought about it. We’re probably delicious, especially cooked medium-rare with soy sauce.

AstroChuck's avatar

I’m thinking about it right now.
A nice butterflied piece of human flesh, lightly breaded and fried in olive oil, with a little lemon juice. Mmmmmmm.
Of course you have to pound the meat just right or it tends to be a little tough.

Ladymia69's avatar

Look, people, if you want to try human flesh, slab off a piece of your own and eat it…just stay away from me.

Berserker's avatar

No way, you know you want me to have a piece of you. :D

…eating oneself, that’s a pretty good idea actually!

Ladymia69's avatar

Girly, i sure wish I could…if you know what I mean…:O

KateTheGreat's avatar

Hahaha. Beautiful.

Berserker's avatar

@ladymia69 Ha yeah, I can’t quite make it. XD

HungryGuy's avatar

@ragingloli – You’re right, but tell that to Zera Kori who made that video…
