I need more ideas and think I came to the right place!

Asked by Cruiser (40449points) July 6th, 2011

Building on @lucillelucillelucille’s great Love Coupon idea I have ready to go, I am in need of other ideas to help celebrate my anniversary this weekend…somethings more on the romantic side for doing special things for and with my bride. I got dinner and sunset cruises on the boat with picnic dinners out on bike rides all planned already. Since both kids will be away at camp all week I need lots of ideas and know y’all can help me out! Thanks!

Do you have a brother?
Ice cream. It has to be in there somewhere. Maybe feed your wife her favorite flavor of ice cream at some point of this special weekend.

Breakfast in bed with a pot of tea and a rose.

Do you have any hot air balloon rides available in your area?

OMG! The best, best, best, fun EVER!

I took my daughter up for her 21st B-day a couple of years ago. Champagne launch at sunrise ( they prefer mornings and evenings for the wind currents )

It’s a bucket list thing for sure, and, what woman wouldn’t want to be surprised with something like this!

You will love ‘Cruisn’ waaay up there!

Up, up, and away! Even if you booked it for a few weeks out, it can be part of the grand plan!

There are generic things that many women love, but what is the one thing that your WIFE would love? You ability to remember a particular date or special time or favorite song, or whatever that is significant to her is really important for the best in romance. If she is mushy, you going down on one knee and telling her you would do it all over again is right up there!

You staying down on one knee and reminding her of why she is so important to you, pointing out special memories you have of one another of the years—priceless!

@WillWorkForChocolate Thanks for suggesting tea as I am always doing coffee for “us” and a nice pot of Chamomile tea fresh from the garden would be really special!

@Coloma Freaking awesome! They ARE having a balloon fest with live blues music 40 minutes away this weekend offering tethered rides just my style too! XD. Thanks sweetie!

Are there any significant places nearby you could visit? Location of your first date, first kiss, first [censored]?

Do you have a letter or postcard she wrote you early in your relationship? You could write a reply, from the older and thankful you to the young girl you knew back in the day.

Congrats! Have a great time!!

Hire a billboard that she goes past every day to tell her, and the world how important she is to you.

@Cruiser I just went on a balloon ride this past weekend. It was fantastic.

For some reason I thought you were with lucillelucillelucille, you flirt so constantly…:)...didn’t know you were actually married, weird.
I say a cruise!

Don’t forget flowers. You could fill the bedroom with rose petals, draw her a hot bubble bath, hand her a new robe and a glass of wine and just enjoy.

I lurve the balloon ride idea & the boat/picnic/bike rides

A compass treasure hunt for her to find a special gift or love note.
A romantic hike (possibly there’s one you can see the sunrise/set nearby).

With kids gone I could come up with lots of ideas…not all of them are romantic…most are just ways to enjoy the alone time. My husband & I have a DVD book full of movies we want to watch & projects to accomplish ;)

Cruiser's avatar

@marinelife The flowers are a given as my new house has flowers galore with an abundance of Roses! Thanks!

Thanks @SpatzieLover! All great ideas going in the play book!

My personal favorite is a weekend in the Napa Valley, with a mud bath and massage in Calistoga.

Cruiser's avatar

@filmfann That one may have to wait a year or two but wine and a massage sounds wonderful! Thanks!

Sing to her a really romantic love song-?

I am going to print your question out and leave it where my husband can see it :D. What a lovely guy you are.

I think @Kayak8 hit on something really important too though. What does YOUR lady love. Her recognising that you thought about the things SHE loves to do/eat/smell/hear/taste/feel-tough just makes all the difference. Frankly, that you are taking so much time to think about making this a special weekend for her would have me swooning. I love my husband but he does tend to leave things until the last moment.

Actually, my own ramblings made me think too. What about setting up a situation where you connect with each one of her senses. So, if she loves the perfume of a particular flower. Fill the house with those flowers. If she has a favourite perfume, buy her a tiny bottle and hide it in a place she will find it by accident (hiding things so she finds them is so nice). I love surprises. If she loves a particular artist, play their music or see if they are on in concert anywhere even. If she loves the sound of the wind in the trees, make that part of her weekend. If she loves a particular artist, take her to a showing of their work or perhaps she loves to look at the ocean, take her there. If she loves fur, buy her a (non real!!!) fur blanket or massage her with a fur mit. Run a bath for you both at some point in the weekend if she likes relaxing in the bath and make sure you have her favourite essential oils/wine/music in the background. Just a thought anyway…

You could even extend this throughout the year, so every week, she finds something or something happens that connects with one of her senses. Doesn’t have to be big or expensive. It just has to be well-thought out.

You are such a special guy! Gosh .. mini fluther crush! (I only have one maxi crush and he is at work).

@mazingerz88 That would be a first and more than likely a last!! Great idea but I will stick to a nice instrumental on guitar! ;)

@Cruiser

You’re going to stay on a tether…dude, I’m disappointed in you.
You have to have the full blown delicious adrenelan anxiety of lifting off in a glorified cat basket while you and your wife grope each other squealing like 7 year olds! lol

WestRiverrat's avatar

See if you can hire a local celebrity chef to come in and make you both a romantic dinner, lunch, or breakfast for two.

You could make a little booklet that has a page for things like first kiss, first date, first time I ever saw you etc. and then on each of those pages, you could give some facts about those firsts like if you happen to know the date, but even if you don’t, then just write about what you thought during those events. Sample: I couldn’t believe how lucky I was that you said yes, when I asked you out and I was kind of embarrassed that we went to see that George Clooney movie, because I wanted you to you to feel that way about me. Just speak from the heart.

Then have one page that lists 10 things I love about you (and be specific!).

Then another page of 10 things I want to do with you in the future (naughty or otherwise, like traveling to a certain place, or learning how to scuba dive).

Then describe to her, how you are a better person, or more of a man because_ of her.

Then draw a little picture of the 2 of you holding hands or kissing, even if it’s just a stick figure drawing. This would be so sweet.

Then have the last page be scented with your cologne, and if you’re up for this, put on some lipstick and give that page a smack, with a little note that says something like: If you ever find yourself missing me, give my lips a kiss and take a deep breath and you will smell my scent all around you and know that you are not alone, and that I am always with you.

Write a lovely/romantic poem, print it out on decorative paper and put it in a frame. My hubby still have the one I wrote for him hanging on the wall by his computer after 10 years:-)
@Cruiser, and try to tear yourself away from fluther this week-end~
Happy Anniversary

Cruiser's avatar

ummmm…. @Coloma it is the best one can do since all local balloons will be there and I expect rides on free range balloons will be scarce! Plus I will not hesitate to dive 150 feet down in shark infested oceans but to float above the ground more than 6 feet above the ground will have me screaming for my blanky! lol! XD

@WestRiverrat Great idea if that is not doable, I will scout out a chefs table at one of the finer restaurants!

Hands @Kardamom a Gold Star for a great answer! Thank you!

@AmWiser I have a couple poems in mind I could put in action! Great idea! :)
