How much should I charge for a family of 4 kids that I would have to take to and from school and also all day Saturday?

Asked by mamatrucker (4points) August 4th, 2011

I would have the kids before school and after school and if they have a snow day I would have them all day plus I want to make sure I have the money for gas to drive them to where they need to go and for food

I guess charge whatever you want per hour. $20—$60/hour. Up to you. You might want to charge more for 4 kids, that’s a lot.

Four children, plus food, driving and time organization is a lot to undertake. I know, I’ve done much of it. Honestly this is no different than any other job, as it comes down to going rate for your area and supply/demand.

How much do nannies make in your locale? How much does daycare run?

My guess is, depending on where you are you’re looking at charging between $1500—$3000 per month. My bet would be the family has already looked into daycare and realizes they can’t afford it for all four kids.

Daycare in my area runs between $14,500 to $20K per kid. Many parents choose to enroll their kids in private school starting at age 3 for this reason. Parochial school start at $2K and the best private schools here run between $12–14K per year.

If you have more details, I’ll gladly assist you further.
