What have you done for the sake of your beauty?

Asked by Your_Majesty (8235points) August 15th, 2011

We must admit that each of us has been been blessed with unique beauty and of course, the problem that surrounds it.

For the sake of your beauty that has been the very essence of your life, shielding you from humiliation, brings you glorious experiences, supporting your heavenly life, and many other uncountable benefits your beauty can offer what little things have you sacrificed for it?

Would it be lots of skin vitamins, anti-aging creams, nutritious meals, beauty sleep, or even exclusive services such as spa, sauna, professional skin treatment, etc? Please remember, this is for the sake of your unmatched beauty, after all.

I had my cock shrunk.

seriously, it was ridiculously big in proportion to my body. i’d show it to you but it’s stuck in your shoe.

@Blondesjon What a hilarious profanity, yet lack in grace. LOL.

I work out like a mofo these days.

I was pretty flabby at the beginning of summer. I like how I looked with clothes on, but I was embarrassed of what I looked like naked. After a whole summer of dieting and working out, I’m very pleased with how I look clothed, or not. I guess you could say I did that for the sake of my beauty. Give me another month or two and I’ll look like an action hero from the front of a Meat Loaf album.

I stay out of the sun, smoke lots of pot and eat tons of sugar. I look at least 10 years younger that I really am. Might just be good jeans, though.

I have smeared honey all over my face. That was a waste of time.

I avoid looking into mirrors. I do not like what I see there.

I let my sister cut my hair when she when she was alittle mad at me.
That was smart.

Lost weight, gained weight, worn a lot of makeup, or a little. I’ve tried creams, serums, lotions and oils. I’ve cut and dyed my hair, and I’ve grown it long. I’ve taped, pinned, tied, twisted, contoured, scrubbed and cut. Pretty much everything that I can think of…. short of plastic surgery, and the only thing that holds me back from that is the cost. There isn’t much that I wouldn’t do.

Lots of sleep. When I was young I used to suntan to be more attractive,which left my skin less attractive in the end. Currently I have more wrinkles I would like from that sun exposure. I do use some lotions amd cams on my face and neck. I exercise for overall health, which I think affects outer beauty, like skin health, and muscle tone, and also to maintain my weight. I take vitamin D, Iron, b12 and a multivitamin. I am deficient in the ones I named, and I feel it affect not only my health, but my beauty. When I get my iron up into the normal ranges I get more color in my face and have more energy and stregnth; it is very noticeable inside and out. The others I can only hope I am helping myself with.

Also, I love make-up, and feel I am transformed when I go from no make-up to made-up. I am not the sort of woman who feels she cannot go outside without make-up. What has happened to me many times is people who meet me without make-up, and then later see me with make-up, and dressed well, give me compliments, and show almost surprise that I am the same person. Also, in the reverse, people who know me all made up, and then they see me without make-up, ask me if I am feeling ok, if I am ill. Happens all the time, basically my whole life.

My hair I have had many colors, several hair styles, and permed every so often. I have tried to deep condition it, since it tends to be dry and thin. I use mousse to give it fullness, curlers and flat irons, depending on what I want that day.

I shower once a month whether I need to or not. My friends appreciate it when I do that. My dog does not.

Why are so many people so sarcastic on this Q?

Breaking my foot and getting surgery this summer was actually pretty good. I couldn’t get in the pool with my stitches so I laid out alot and got a nice tan. Yesterday, my mom said, “oh my god you look like a beautiful chunk of caramel.” I’ll take that.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@redfeather that’s a great compliment!

redfeather's avatar

@ANef_is_Enuf I thought so! I love caramel!

sliceswiththings's avatar

@iphigeneia Me too! That took forever to get off/out of my hair.

The best thing I have done for my beauty is to check out of the rat race the last 6 years.
Less stress equals a happier person and that is the best beauty product there is!

It’s an inside job that shows up on the outside. ;-)

Going to get those pearlies whitened soon!

deni's avatar

@redfeather Haha I broke my foot last summer and did the same thing. That’s hilarious.

@deni caramel twins!

Physical beauty? I’ve been diligent about sunscreen since Jr.High, avoided makeup (I have massive freckles which look stupid under foundation so no loss really), drink more water than other liquids and eat pretty decent foods. The rest is genetics. Thank you grama for giving me the gift of extended youthful facade.

prayed for a miracle…incidentally, it has not been answered. Im still ugly.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Once a month, I get hair ripped out of my face. Ow.

Jude's avatar

Stay out of the sun. I look 10 years younger, too (like tinyfaery). I know that it is good genes. Both Mom and sister looked younger than their age.

I can think of hardly anything that I’ve done for the sake of my appearance alone, except that in middle school I was embarrassed about my curly hair for some reason and used to straighten it every day. Best thing I ever did for my physical self esteem was to stop doing that. But I don’t wear makeup or really use any beauty products because I just can’t be bothered. Dunno how bad of an idea this might be as I know society generally has some expectations of women (but I think that’s crap anyway).

But also, one of the biggest factors for me in the decision to get an internal j-pouch as opposed to keeping the external ileostomy bag was body image issues.

wundayatta's avatar

Not much. Get a hair cut once in a while. Buy some new clothes when the wife complains about the old. Trim my nose hairs and eyebrows. I try to keep it as simple as possible. Really, I don’t give a shit. There is no way I’ll ever be a hearthrob. But it doesn’t seem to matter. I seem to be doing all right without killer looks.

cockswain's avatar

Diet, exercise, and sunscreen.

linguaphile's avatar

Kicked the abuser out. I lost 280 pounds (his weight, not mine) and 15 years of stress.

SABOTEUR's avatar

Not much hope for me in the beauty department.
Best I can do is to shower often and wear clean clothes.

That, and try to minimize being seen in public.
