Head over heels?

is it just me or has anyone stopped to think that this well abused cliche is… Backwards?

It is indeed backwards. I recall reading somewhere that its origin was heels over head but that it got changed along the way. I’ll try to find more info at a phrase finders website.

So true! I’m gonna have to rearrange the lyrics in this great song…“Something happens and I’m heels over head ♪♪♫♫♫♪♪♫...”
