What does "Stack overflow at line 356" mean on the facebook site?

Asked by ItalianPrincess1217 (11979points) June 22nd, 2012

Anytime I try to go on facebook from my computer I get a pop up window that says “Stack overflow at line…” and it won’t allow me to do anything on the site. How do I fix this?

Have you tried it with a different browser? Do you get the same error?

There are a couple of suggestions here.

According to Facebook’s Help Site, it recommends Please report this issue here.“Stack-Overflow…”-error. It doesn’t answer the question, but it is a place to start.

Try either clearing the cache in your browser.

Doesn’t stack overflow mean you’re out of memory somehow? If so, yes, then clearing the cache and also rebooting the computer should help.

Just guessing, but your browser is probably an older version of Internet Explorer? You can get the current version by going to Help -> About Internet Explorer (the wording might vary slightly)

If you’re running a version that starts with 7 (or especially if it starts with 6) it would be a great time to upgrade your browser. It’s pretty easy and will help eliminate problems you’ll run in to more and more often around the internet.

You can download Internet Explorer at Microsoft’s site.

Or you can try another browser. Firefox and Chrome are both popular and good browsers that serve the same purpose. Once your current it’s pretty much just personal preference.
