Can lying on my side cause irregular heartbeats?

Asked by hopsing (1points) July 28th, 2012

When I am sitting up in bed my heart beats normally. When I try to lie on my back or sleep on my side I have many skipped heartbeats.

I don’t know about irregular heartbeats, but there is a reason that medical people sometimes take blood pressure standing and sitting/lying down.

Also, some diseases show differences in bp regarding standing and lying. So I’m thinking you’re on to something regarding irregular heartbeat. Maybe someone in the know will sound off about this soon.

I know that if I had irregular heartbeats, regardless of position, I would promptly make an appt. with an MD and have him figure it out.
