Is Charlotte,NC a southern city?

Yes. Just about anything south of Washington, DC is classified as “the south.” North Carolina is nowhere near the “deep south,” but it’s nonetheless southern.

Yes it is. It has at least 5 Waffle House eateries and the waitresses call you “Hon”.
I rest my case.

If you suggest that a woman from Charlotte is anything but a southern lady, you just might offend her deeply. :-)

Of course. North Carolina is south of Virginia, which certainly makes it Southern.

It is, however, one of the bigger cities in the Southeast and, as far as urban areas go, the people there tend to be less “southern” acting than in smaller towns. However, the prevalence of sweet tea and the use of the word “y’all” retains Charlotte’s southern-ness.

Geographically, yes, for sure.

Environmentally/atmospherically, life style? Also, yes. Not as ‘southern’ as Charleston or Richmond or Savannah, but still definitely southern.
