To anyone who watches the U.S. version of "Shameless" -- have you noticed something odd about Liam?

Asked by SadieMartinPaul (9022points) January 27th, 2013

At the beginning of Season 1, Liam was barely a toddler. At least a couple of years have passed, however, so Liam’s now much older.

Have you noticed that Liam doesn’t talk? He looks maybe age 3 or 4, but he’s never said a single thing.

Should we be getting clues that Liam’s developmentally challenged? If yes, that could lead to an interesting look at poverty in America; Liam will need some expensive help, which the Gallaghers can’t afford and, thus, won’t be able to access.

My husband thinks I’m reading too much into all this. He says it’s more likely that the twins chosen to play Liam turned out to lack acting skills—they can’t take cues or recite dialogue—so Liam remains silent.

Thoughts?

I don’t find it weird. Maybe when he actually is part of the storyline and not just a background character.

If the UK version is anything to go by, I think you are probably reading too much into it!

All good to know. Liam’s a really cute little guy.
