I don’t know the answer to your question, but where did you hear that Youtube is going to start charging?
That would suck.

I heard yesterday it may be 1.99 and today .99. I just googled it and there was a site that confirmed it, if I can only find it. I thought it was never free anyway.

I am talking charging users by the way just ot be sure.

It’s only going to charge for premium content. You can still watch all the keyboard cats and swearing toddlers for free.

Are we talking about pay to view videos or paying to post videos?

We will have to pay for channels that show tv shows and movies

@dxs I’m confused about that as well. @flo, you say they’ll only be charging users of YouTube…as opposed to what? Viewers and posters are both users.

I’m assuming the viewers would be charged from what I read. And they would only be charged for pay channels and tv shows, as @Dr_Lawrence mentioned.

They will probably be more vigilant about taking down copyrighted material, which would bum me out since my daughter loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and this is the only way we can watch any episode other than “Roady Rally”... I HOPE all these clips and ads I see for the Disney Jr “channel” on YouTube that always pop up means that there will be a Disney Junior station. I’d probably pay to legally watch most of the shows I see advertised on it.

There is Vimeo. Lots of good content there. But copyrighted material is at risk wherever it’s posted. The only way to ensure it isn’t hit with a take-down order is to post it with the agreement of the copyright holder, and that isn’t likely to be obtained without payment.

YouTube is not going to start charging soon. They are adding an optional premium service on top of their existing free service. The free service won’t change.

dailymotion.com
There’s another one. I use google whenever I can’t find a video on YouTube, and this website usually comes up.

@livelaughlove21 I don’t know why I used that word, obviously the viewers and the posters are all users.
