Do you miss keys?

Asked by Headhurts (4505points) June 10th, 2013

For those of you with laptops or tablets, do you miss actually pressing the keys on a keyboard?

This is really sad, but I do pretty much everything on my phone and when faced with a real keyboard it takes me a minute to remember what to do with it. lol

Not in the slightest, they seem so huge & clunky by comparison & they’re crumb magnets as well.

For work and play I use an iMac, an iPhone, a Windows 8 laptop and an Android tablet, so I’m constantly switching between keyboards and touch screens. I like touchscreens but I grew up using keyboards (first on typewriters, then PCs), so I’m comfy with both.

I make too many mistakes with touchscreens that it takes me forever to type something up. It’s frustrating. I can type 70 wpm, so I prefer my laptop with keyboard and my flip phone. Yeah, I know. I’m ancient, I would miss keys if I didn’t have them.

I hate touch screens. Yea it’s nifty or fun to play with but when it comes to actually typing I’ll take a keyboard please.

@jonsblond I have a flip phone as well because it’s far easier/faster for me to type on that compared to those keyboards with tiny keys or the bloody touchscreens on smartphones.

I’m holding onto my keyboard and slider cell phone until you pry them from my cold dead hands!
I learned to type at a very young age, and I can touch type about 90 wpm with few errors.
The few times I’ve used my iPod Touch to browse the internet, or tried to type something on a friend’s tablet, I’ve gotten frustrated and slowed down by all the mistakes I made.

My laptop has keys. I will never own a tablet (except perhaps as a toy one day); they just aren’t that useful for what I do with computers.

I still use my keyboard, and I don’t have a smartphone.

Even the mighty bearded one known as Moses broke his tablet in a fit of rage brought forth by the blasphemy that is modern consumerism…I fink.

“Who is this imposter I see on the big screen, the man looks nothing like me, with his scrawny western features & pathetic wooly beard. I place a pox on Charlton Heston & vow that one day, my lord gawd shall indeed prise the gun from his cold dead hand…feel the fury Chuck!!”

It depends on what I ‘m doing, but I can saw that each control scheme has it’s place.

That said, whoever thought is was a good idea to try to try putting a tablet/smartphone UI on a PC deserves to be slapped repeatedly with a rancid fish. I’m looking at you, Microsift….
