My family is 3,000 miles away. I miss them.

I am never alone as I have a telephone with a great long distance plan.
I grew up in a family that spread “like buckshot” out of the family nest. all over the country.
Good thing we have internet.

Kind of, I’ve been living in Ecuador with my boyfriend and his family for 5 months. Far away from my friends and what’s left of my family. (Mom is dead and I don’t speak to my father.)

I’m glad we’re going back to living in NYC in less than a week.

Very. My dad died on my birthday. They all are in the US. I moved home to australia but I had been gone about 12 years.I don’t know any one. I have my teenagers though!

My parents are dead, my husband left and my kids live far away so yes, I’m alone. But I have great friends and some relatives who don’t live too far away. I built a new support structure over the last two years.

@trailsillustrated you not alone if you have your teens, what more could you wish for?

I lived overseas for many years, and while it was difficult sometimes to be cut off from those that I loved, I can truthfully say that I learned a lot about myself during that time. There was no one else to hide behind or tell me what to do, and that freedom/responsibility taught me much. I feel fortunate, and I don’t really remember the lonely times, though I know I had them.
