Why will my HP 110 Photosmart printer not power up?

Asked by Adirondackwannabe (36713points) July 17th, 2013

I have power to the adapter, i.e. the power light is on. But the printer doesn’t do anything when I hit the on switch or try to access it from my laptop. I’ve tried it in several outlets, so I know that isn’t the problem. Is there a fuse or switch I’m missing? The manual or online guides haven’t helped at all.

Check the expiry date on your ink cartridges. My HP Photosmart 3310 gets all wonky if the ink cartridges are out of date.

@Tropical_Willie I’ll check them. But they’re both fairly new. And when I open the access door to them they don’t move to the center like they normally do when it’s powered up.

When you buy a new printer they ship with barely filled ink.

Does the printer have a built in scanner? If it does you can use the Gimp to check it all works.

My mom uses the Gimp (unfortunate name) when her printer complains about ink.

@johnpowell I’ve gone through a bunch of cartridges, so they should be okay. I think the last levels looked fine on my laptop. I get regular diagnostics on the levels in each cartridge when printing.
