Can I use hair dye without mixing it with developer?

Asked by illusionslies (586points) October 23rd, 2013

I need an urgent help!

I bought Clairol Prof. Soy4plex creme demi permanente, I want to go from light green to dark brown.

If I just put the creme on my hair without mixing it with a developer, would it work?

No. The creme won’t work without it.

Developer is meant to be used in a certain proportion based on your hair situation. Since you clearly are not trained in cosmetology, and are working with non virgin hair, back off and consult a professional before you burn your hair off.

Some hair dyes don’t require a developer. Those that need them simply won’t work without it.

To the best of my knowledge (13 years of experience), Color Ion, Beyond The Zone, Manic Panic & Special Effects, are the only kind of hair dye you don’t need to use with a developer.
