The singing of the birds outside my house.

It depends on my mood. Most of the time it’s something like Aaron Copeland’s Simple Gifts. Other times it’s a slow, languid, version of Lago Azul, especially when I’ve moored in one the night before. Sometimes it’s simply Mississippi Fred McDowel’s gutty version of You Gotta Move which is one of the few songs I can play on the guitar, bottleneck and all. Then there are those mornings when Hold on, I’m Comin’ is most appropriate, or in the adverse of the same situation, Rebekka del Rio’s painfully plaintive a capella, Llorando

Morning has broken – Cat Stevens!!

Mostly lately it’s “Morning Again” by Tom Paxton
Sometimes it’s “Morning has Broken” by Cat Stevens
Really good mornings used to be “Chelsea Morning” by Joni Mitchell

Good question. A lot of it depends on the weather. Some songs are for rainy mornings, while others are for sunny mornings.

Here is one.

Haha, well, I think ‘morning’ when I hear Chris Brown singing “Don’t wake me up, up, up, up, up, up..”

@ZEPHYRA didn’t link, so I will.

I used to wake up with here comes the sun stuck in my head.

Embarrassingly enough, I’d also wake up with the first couple lines of this randomly in my head.

I see your Beatles song and raise you a groovy @El_Cadejo. I had that song as a 3rd or 4th track in my head for years! If I had a dollar for every time I’ve thought, “Hello, lamp post!” I’d be my own charitable foundation!

I’m usually up at around sunrise, and I hear Lonely Days, Lonely Nights by the Bee Gees. I was a pretty big fan, pre-disco!

ibstubro's avatar

Yeah, we were huge Bee Gee’s fans before disco, @Yetanotheruser. “I Started a Joke”.

@ibstubro oh, if I’d only seen…

8-track. I got to take my sister’s old stereo to college, and I made sure the pink Rhino 8-track was in the case. @Yetanotheruser

@ibstubro, in 1977 my GF at the time and I bought a ‘68 E-150, and got rid of anything we didn’t need or couldn’t fit, and worked our way from Chicago to San Diego, and a few places in between. We had an 8-track and a cassette deck, along with am/fm and CB radio.

@Yetanotheruser I’m honestly amazed when people can remember the exact year of things 20+ years in the past. I have a hard time remembering what year I graduated or the year me and my fiance got together unless I really think about it.
