On FB, how to I alter the things that people see when they do "Search for all people, places and things" and then "find all people named ____?"?

Asked by jca (36062points) November 10th, 2014

When I type a name into the FB search bar “find all people, places and things,” I see that different people have different information shown.

For myself, it shows, among other things, my age and relationship status. I am confused because my birth year is not visible to anybody, even my friends in my “about” section. All of my other information is available to “friends only.” Yet the public can see my age and relationship status when they search for me. They can also see books I have read and some other trivial stuff.

I have been googling to try to figure out how to change this information. I get that I should go to privacy settings, click on “apps” and unclick “birthday.” I tried that and it didn’t work.

My Fluther Jelly friends who are on FB can try searching for “all people named _____” and you will see what I mean when you type in my name.

Help! :)

Have you tried logging out, then repeating the same search? You might find that the information was available to you only because you’re, well, you.

I’m guessing you must have fixed it . I just tried it and saw your university, and status. No age.
And that you are awesome. ;-)
