Birthday gifts for 11 year old girls?

Asked by lugerruger (785points) September 5th, 2015

It’s my friends 11th birthday party soon and I need ideas for gifts. They’re not girly girls, but not total tomboys either, they’re kind of in-between, things like makeup or nail polish are probably not wanted. Also, DIY gifts are awesome. Any ideas?

Boardgames, books, gift coupons

Gift cards for stores where they can buy their own clothes. What you can do when you bag up the gift card is put in a few cutesy novelty things like key chains or hair brush and mirror or something for their rooms (something cute they can put on their dresser or hang on their wall, for example).

sports equipment (ask which sport they want to play).

Movie passes and gift cards are always good.

What do they like to do? This is difficult to answer without more information, but here are some general ideas:

Books

Tickets to a local amusement park

Walkie-Talkies

Magazine subscriptions

Paints and a canvas (or three)

A microscope and assorted bugs

An adventure they’d like (I went scuba-diving at that age)

Would you mind providing more information? There is more than one with the same or close to same birthdays, right? Are they sisters?

Either way, joint birthdays can be a bummer if two or more people receive the same gift from one individual as it lacks attention to their individual personalities. Tell us a bit more about what each girl likes and we should be able to offer some specific options.

Also, is there a budget?

A giant cookie. I used to make them for friends on valentines day.
