If you could construct an alter ego, what would you focus on and whom would you become?

Asked by PriceisRightx26 (1258points) March 25th, 2016

Try not to judge us.

A friend and I decided to toy with the idea of an alter ego. We’re both rather anxious, socially and otherwise, and introverted and were discussing ways to overcome the obstacles set up by those traits. We decided that the alter egos would have to really reach outside of our comfort zones (within reason); primary focus on being confident and outgoing. It was a really light, fun conversation, where we discussed change of appearance, accents, attitudes, interests, etc. So, if you were to make your own sideline persona, whether it be for fun or other reasons, how would you determine what traits to focus on? How much of the real you would you set on the back burner? What other aspects would you consider?

Looking for a vey open conversation. Have fun!

Bootman.

My costume? Orange jumpsuit, welding goggles and cutting torch.

My mission? To save our good citizens from the tyranny of the predatory parking boot companies.

Acidman.

My costume? An invisible layer of LSD over ordinary street clothes, backpack containing bottled water and Bubble Tape chewing gum.

My superpower? Heightened senses.

@Haleth I think like that’s me in real life, lol.

So are these choices just because you’d think they’d be fun, or do you have specific take aways?

I already have several alter egoes, for specific people I interact with. Mostly the alter egoes aren’t for fun. For different people I need different persona for better interaction. Sometimes the persona is necessary. I can’t imagine living without my persona, partly because I’m too weird. As a result no one can see the real me, or at least all of it, and no one knows that I’m putting on a persona.

I don’t know that I could. It takes all my effort just to maintain being me.
