Do you like the flavor of licorice? I mentioned anise, anisette, fennel and licorice because they’re all similar.

Not really familiar with the others, but licorice is an abomination straight from the anus of satan.

@jca Yes, I really like licorice!

Nope. Not even a little.

Pachy's avatar

Yes, all of them, and black licorice is one of my great candy pleasures.

tedibear's avatar

Love all of them! Like @Pachy, black licorice is a favorite of mine.

I don’t like licorice, but I like anise and fennel, a lot.

Pachy's avatar

Of course, not all black licorice is created equal. I avoid the cheap kind.

Yes, very much, except for the black licorice we purchased in Amsterdam. It’s salty.

LostInParadise's avatar

Yes I do. There is usually some black licorice in my house.

What loli said.

I strongly dislike and try to avoid all of these, except fennel. Fennel has a subtler taste and a refreshing texture that overpowers its licorice-ish qualities.

I like the taste of anise and fennel. I don’t like licorice cause it’s too sugary and I don’t know what anisette is.

@dxs: Anisette is a licorice flavored liquor.

I do, big time.

For example, my two secret ingredients for first class Paella are: just before serving, I add some fennel and rim the stew with one quick round of anisette, pastis, sambuca, or whatever liqourice liqueur that is on hand, then fold it in. It really brings out and brightens the various flavours of chirizo, chicken, shellfish and fish. Not too much, as they aren’t supposed to actually taste it and the stuff is horribly sweet. It’s only meant to enhance.

I usually do Paella in an 8 quart pot and one very quick rim of liqueur is only about an ounce. I also use the pouring spout that bartenders use. That ensures you will pour evenly and not overpour.

No, hate licorice. I honestly don’t see the appeal.

I do like the licorice flavors.

For those who do, I can recommend trying Xtabentun a liqueur from the Yucatan made from anise, honey and rum. Nice for sipping and mixing cocktails. note to mods, this is not an ad for any particular brand, merely a personal suggestion

dxs's avatar

@jca That explains why. I hate liquor or anything alcohol.

nightwolf5's avatar

I do for licorice and anise. I’ve used the anise tooth powered before too.
