What do you think of the new Trans Species?

Asked by Aster (20023points) August 8th, 2017

A woman just “knew” she was really a cat as a baby. She wears polyester cat ears, hissies at dogs and meows all day. The article calls it, “the new trans species.” She licks her hands then rubs them on her face to wash . Any opinions? Are there more of her out there? Is this a viable way to live? https://www.facebook.com/subjectpolitics/videos/708982492630627/?hc_ref=ARTqBiJBAi743MyS3Lejd2GuJrL5qzp00FkJmr68Sus5vyRMKqdIcY5O4eqhw4wRyhs&pnref=story

Why the hell not?

It just occurred to me that it might be hard for them to hold down jobs. And they might stand out in a classroom when licking themselves and meowing. For instance, a narrow minded physician might think twice before hiring one as a receptionist in his oncology office. He might fear his practice might not be taken seriously. On the other hand, they might make great therapists or grocery store clerks. And save a fortune on grocery bills since I suppose they’d just eat cat food.

Stupid. I consider myself Trans-financial, feel like I was really born to be a millionaire. Maybe someone needs to fund my transition to wealthy so I can live as the wealthy person I really am on the inside. LMAO!

@Aster Seems to me that she’s ideal for a business specializing in rodent abatement. How’s her night vision?

Aster's avatar

She didn’t mention her night vision but that’s a good thought. I bet she’ll marry a guy who wants a lap cat. The neighbors will have plenty to talk about.

Coloma's avatar

@stanleybmanly I can offer her a barn to live in and I’d be happy to provide some extra kibble and get her spayed and vaccinated too. Wouldn’t want anymore crazy kittens to be born. LOL

There have always been people who relate to animals better than they do people. The more crazy our culture becomes, no wonder people are less likely to identify with its ideas of what people are.

I wouldn’t hire her, the hairballs must be enormous.

Coloma's avatar

@Zaku I think you have t backwards. The crazier people become the crazier the culture gets haha

@zenvelo Employee issued hairball remedies, wouldn’t be very professional to gag up a hairball in front of a client.

…and, don’t forget we’ll need to create a litter box corner in public bathrooms for litter box users.
I sure don’t want my child exposed to someone covering their poop in a pan in a public restroom. LOL

Coloma's avatar

Just waiting for someone to become indignant and defend the trans-kitties.

Patty_Melt's avatar

^^ I’m not it. I’m furious. How dare anyone add themselves to the kitty population, when there are so many homeless and hungry kitties in the world now!
She should be adopting kitties, not pretending to BE one.

Does she spread her legs apart and lick her butthole?

MrGrimm888's avatar

I think it’s yet another sign that the end is near…

MrGrimm888's avatar

I guess it has some benefit. I’ve questioned my sanity before. This puts my sanity in perspective…..

I try not to overuse the term “bat shit crazy.” But I think I will apply it to these people.

I support their right to be crazy…

Coloma's avatar

Yep, surprised there isn’t a crazy pride parade. Maybe there is. haha

MrGrimm888's avatar

^Ah. A crazy pride parade. A good place to sell aluminum foil hats!

I wonder if the cat people poop in boxes? Otherwise they’re just half assing it…

Coloma's avatar

@MrGrimm888 LOL…right, if you’re going to dress like a pussy you better poop like a pussy too.

Sneki2's avatar

It’s called the otherkin. They’re kinda insane.

ragingloli's avatar

Hardly any worse than people that believe in sky wizards.

Sneki2's avatar

Sky wizard believers at least appear normal and don’t mix apples and oranges.

I’m in ragingloli’s “why the hell not?” camp. Is it a camp, ragingloli? Perhaps I should have checked before I packed all this gear in a backpack and started hiking…

If she decided she identified as a lion, and would therefore try to hunt and eat my dog, or me, or anyone, then I obviously have an issue with it. But I have an issue with anyone causing harm to others.

I don’t understand why she’s adopting cat behaviors, and I’ll admit I have a hard time seeing it as anything other than very committed roleplaying, but it seems pretty innocuous.

As for the bathroom worry some expressed, cats are perfectly capable of using toilets ;)

Okayyy… backs away, slowly…

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

I’m in the same boat. It would be hypocritical for me to judge her, seeing that I’m an immortal false god trapped in a time loop. You go girl. All the power to her.

Berserker's avatar

Otherkin is, indeed, nothing new. There are many in the OVC. (online vampire community) Other than living human vampires, as they call themselves, (there are many kinds. sanguinary, psy, emotional, sort of forget the terms) there are fairy kin who simply call themselves the fae, there are dragon kin, lycans, and yes, feline kin. There are also people who claim affiliation and links with animals/creatures without ’‘being’’ them.

I’ve never seen this manifest off the net though, despite the claims that it does.

Catwoman. I wonder if like the Kzin, she might crave tuna or mackerel flavored ice cream?

Just one big fat eye roll.

I think it’s stupid. I think a lot of things are stupid. I think anarchists are stupid. I think Mormonism is stupid. But I don’t try and stop people from doings things that don’t negatively affect others, no matter how stupid I believe them to be. That does not mean that I will give any validity to her status as “trans-species”, but it also doesn’t mean I’m going to waste time mocking her and arguing against it.

And I also won’t be comparing this to transgenderism and using this to discredit transgender people as I’m sure some will.

Coloma's avatar

@DominicY Agreed, but you have to admit it is just too tempting to not make inane jokes about. Feeling you have been born into the wrong body is serious stuff, identifying as a cat is just plain ridiculous.

Zaku's avatar

I’d rather hang out with people who identify as animals than hang out with people who identify as Trump supporters… though that’s not saying much, I suppose.

Michael_Huntington's avatar

@DominicY “I think anarchists are stupid.”
Hey hey, whoa now.
