Here’s the link for a video where bear visits a guy who’s gone out.

First of all I wouldn’t ever leave my back unguarded in bear territory, or leave my gun laying there out of my reach. Big no no’s.

Looks like he was in the middle of a group of fairly relaxed bears. I’d probably do the same as him – be as calm as possible and enjoy the moment, though I probably would be too focused on the bears to film them, especially when they were right next to me.

I would crap my waders and hope the bear found it amusing and not enticing.

Did you notice that the bear was avoiding direct eye contact? He was well aware of where he was and the presence of the human but seemed to be doing his best to be non-confrontational.

^lol..) Yeah I think that site is frequently visited by humans so bear is used to it I guess!!!

I’d make a noise, try to get it to move on. I don’t think it’s hungry or in a dangerous mood as other bears are catching fish in the river but they can be unpredictable, like us humans.

If I were in the same position as the photographer, out by the river quietly observing a sleuth of bears, I would be okay remaining calm as one came around to check things out,

But that is a big if. I would not be out in the wilderness that close to a sleuth of bears.

By the way, I have met bears in the woods (though not so close) and what I did was turn around and quietly walk away perpendicular to their course, as soon as I noticed them.

@zenvelo, GA for knowing and using the term of venery for a group of bears.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@KNOWITALL I don’t think that’s his back yard.
Also, I can’t tell if that’s a gun or a fishing pole.
I would pee my pants if that happened to me.

@Dutchess_III that video is fake. When the guy tells the bears to have a good day he says “Have a good day” and not “Have a good day, eh” as he would if he were really Canadian.

Dutchess_III's avatar

What? So the only thing you got from that was that it wasn’t actually in Canada (I think it was, though) so the whole thing is faked? He sounds northern to me. Maybe he moved there from Minnesota or Wisconsin or something.

^^^ (Sometimes you are sooooo…...........literal @Dutchess_III! I was just yanking your wang, eh)

Hard to tell when you can’t hear inflection.

That bear seemed like a big, gentle dog. It simply hung out and enjoyed the view.
