Do you have a Mr. Rogers story or memory to share?

The ultimate showdown on YouTube is a nswf comedy that I really liked. Also the in the garden of your mind is a song tribute that I liked. Is not nswf. I only have a smartphone so I can’t make links.

I also liked the way that mr. Rogers handled the senator when he was asking for funding in Mr. Rogers neighbourhood. He didn’t take the bait and remained positive.

As a kid, I loved watching hom come in and change to ‘playtime’ clothes. Always seemed like a sweet man. When I heard about his past, as an adult, I liked him even more.

I always thought the show was ummm all sweatery, but I liked it anyway. I got a kick out of a grown man with a cool toy trolley.
I giggled at meow meow me too meow.
Some of his visitors were very cool. The yo-yo champion got me all excited about trying to do tricks, but hours of practice only led to multiple contusions. I suck at it.
I too, admire the way he faced down politicians for funding.

My mother took me to meet Mr. Rogers some time when I was really young. I can’t remember it at all, but I still have the postcard he sent me shortly after that meeting. It’s hand written and personalized, which is incredible when you consider how many people he must have met in his time and how many postcards he must have sent out.

Mr. Rogers was one of the greats. When I see or hear clips from Mr Rogers’ Neighborhood, I can’t help but feel physically and emotionally warm, relaxed, and safe.

I don’t have any particular story that I recall. He was a part of my childhood, and he was a f*cking badass – a hardcore embodiment of empathy and compassion.

Only on Fluther could people get into a flame bait war on a Mr Rogers thread!

Anybody know the current status of the props? Is everything in a museum somewhere, or might I get to bid on the trolley someday on eBay?

Mr. Rogers came to the University of Washington, and gave a talk to the children and to the parents. After he was finished talking with the kids, as only he could, he lifted his eyes to the parents and told us how wonderful we were, and that are kids were so sensitive and great because we were making that possible for them—or something like that (it was forty years ago). Anyway, it was so moving and sweet. And we were all working so hard with our kids, and no one tells you you are doing a great job, and I loved him for it!!
