You need to have a sample of your feces examined by a competent pathological laboratory, like Quest, to determine if such parasites might be present.

I’m not a doctor, so I can’t offer any medical advice, but knowing those who have had tapeworms, I know that the one thing all of them had in common, was rapid (noticeable) weight loss.

Your own physician can best advise you, and I urge you to contact him/her.

should my girlfriend get checked out i live with her?

Everyone who MIGHT have been exposed to any possible parasitic contamination, should be examined, definitely.

That’s a personal layman’s opinion, and not medical advice.
