What is your Saturday night movie on this evening of the 5th day of August 2023?

Asked by mazingerz88 (28832points) August 5th, 2023 from iPhone

Too many to choose from. It’s been half an hour since I started looking for which movie to rent or watch free online. Thanks.

It’s not a movie, but I’ve been watching Black Mirror on Netflix. It has 6 fairly short seasons and is very good if you like Twilight Zone-ish shows updated to the future. I’m really enjoying them and the shows are 50 to 70 minutes long, give or take.

They recently put One Piece on Netflix so I’m binging that.
For reference, the anime has been out 20+ years and has 1070ish episodes.

This afternoon I watched Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!
This evening I watched A New Tale Of Zatoichi. This is the fourth film in the 26 film series. Sadly, I only have 13 of them.

I’ve started “The Bear” on Hulu.

@janbb Bear have good reviews I read. Sounds really good.

@filmfann. That maybe it next Saturday night. An Almodovar film. Curious as to why it seems he hasn’t done any lately. Pain and Glory was good. And Zatoichi. Fun bloody action!

@Blackberry One Piece is a series and has 1K episodes? Wow. I just stumbled on what I think was a movie with maybe four different stories in it and it was excellent. That battle between soldiers and a huge robot was unforgettable.

@snowberry Yup. YT is a treasure trove of good stuff. It is fun digging up for them.

@smudges Love Black Mirror. I join Netflix on and off and when I do I always end up revisiting my favorite episodes. Also Love Death Robots.

THANKS jellies! Last night I ended up watching the Tron remake in Blu-ray. The musical score alone is just a trip.

@mazingerz88 Almodovar did do one more recently – Parallel Mothers with Penelope Cruz. It’s excellent. You might also like her in an Italian one called L’Illuminista which came out recently by an Italian director.

I’ve started watching “Fisk” on Netflix. It is an Australian production, very light and funny.

I started Hijack on Apple TV last night. Can’t go wrong with Idris Elba!

“The Philadelphia Story,” a 1940 classic starring Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart.

My husband had organized an outdoor movie showing for our community. There was a big, inflatable screen, a couple of food trucks, and a closed-off road with chalk for kids to draw and write. Thanks to some good luck, the weather was clear and perfect.

As for the film itself, I can’t say that it’s aged well. All three stars gave forced performances; I could see and hear them acting, generally overacting.

@Love_my_doggie Sounds like a great time! Sorry the movie wasn’t so hot. Maybe do it again before summer is over with another movie.

@Love_my_doggie One of my top favorite classic films.
