Here is a torrent client for the Mac.
I haven’t used it since I am on a pc, but this will allow you to unpackage the torrent files you are downloading.

1. Transmission has been voted the best bittorrent client for macs many times in a row.

2. Go to a site like thepiratebay.org and search for why you want. Then click download.

3. A bittorrent downloads many thousands of parts of files from many different computers simultaneously. This allows the download speed to be much greater than from a single computer. If you download something you have previously bought, then it is legal. If not, it is illegal, but the chances of any legal repercussions are nearly non existant. Unless you are distributing hundreds or thousands of gigabytes of pirated software, no one will do anything about it.

Second for transmission. Azureus runs on it too, but transmission seems to be faster.

To make this clearer, download transmission first (google it, should be easy), then go to any torrent site like piratebay, download one of the .torrent files. save it on your computer. open transmission, use it to open that file (it will recognize it) and then the software will do the rest.

dont bother downloading the torrent file, you dont need them. Just open it with transmission.

www.isohunt.com is another good torrent site.

So then would I need to convert it through handbreak if it was a movie file or I could just drag and drop it?

El_Cadejo's avatar

I dont follow. Convert it for what?

im going to take a shot in the dark and say your asking if it needs to be converted before you play it. As long as its a file type that your codecs support (which is the case 97% of the time) then no you dont have to convert anything.

afghanmoose's avatar

i want to put it on my iphone,so thats the reason of finding a way to convert it or compress it or something ya know

jrpowell's avatar

Use http://www.isquint.org/ to convert it for you. It will even add it to iTunes for you.

afghanmoose's avatar

whenever i do this it says :The torrent file will not be able to be opened. A torrent file with no tracker address is only useful when you plan to upload the file to a tracker website that will add the address for you.

jlm11f's avatar

afghan, to clarify, what is not opening the torrent file?

afghanmoose's avatar

i figured out converting it,thanks for the help,i didnt play it yet,it says its an itunes file, which is good so i can just drag and drop, but so im going to check isquint to convert movies,tv shows, and music for the iphone?or is there a program for the mac to just do it.

jrpowell's avatar

No need to convert music. Just get the music in iTunes. If you download a video that will need to be converted.

afghanmoose's avatar

nice,so id have to go to that website to convert it,or isnt there a much easier way to get a program that makes it easier to convert it,or can i use handbreak?also whats seeding?

eambos's avatar

You don’t use the website, you download the progra that’s on it. After you install the program, drag and drop the file into it and then tell the program what format to convert it to. Since you want to put it on an iPod, you should choose mp4 or mpeg.

afghanmoose's avatar

Eambos, what program would that be,I got transmission already so do I just drag it from the file I keep it in after I finish getting it with my bitttorrent?

eambos's avatar

iSquint.

Once the movie is done downloading, drag that file into iSquint to convert it.

afghanmoose's avatar

im getting a pineapple express bit torrent, but when its downloading on transmission its all rar files and a whole bunch, whats this and should i find a different one?

tWrex's avatar

rar is a compressed archive. it’s like zip, but better. and no that one will be fine. just double click one of them when you’re done and extract it wherever you want it to be.

afghanmoose's avatar

well when i click on the rar file,it doesnt really open,so i chose it to open with quicktime or itunes, still didnt work, just a waste of time practically,im putting it on my iphone so yea its a pain

eambos's avatar

That torrent of pineapple express sucks. Whoever took the video in the movie theater should learn how to work a camera. It’s not worth your time. Wait until it comes out on DVD and someone gets a real rip.

tWrex's avatar

Go download a zipping archive program. Try betterzip. It’s great. Or google

afghanmoose's avatar

so ill check out betterzip, but i need to know how can i convert avi or other video files to i can put them on my iphone with a mac

afghanmoose's avatar

and what does better zip do anyways

afghanmoose's avatar

thanks firside, but it didnt really help,i used isquint, but it converted a video which was an mp4 to a text file instead
