I like to shop, but don't like to buy stuff that everybody has. Can anybody help me to findout a good place where I can pick up some accessories which are not common?

If you want stuff that no one else has, you could try either independent boutiques (Brighton & London are really good for these) or vintage / charity shops which are everywhere really (the best being Absolute Vintage near London’s Brick Lane) – or raid your parents / grandparents houses for cool vintage stuff which they’ll be delighted you’re interested in :)
...but my fav place to find unusual stuff has to be car boot sales, so much fun!

I would suggest non-chain stores. What region/city are you in? Maybe some other flutherers can suggest specific stores.

That might be of some assistance.

The Vermont Country Store specializes in things that are hard to find, as their motto says “Purveyors of the practical and hard-to-find”. They carry many interesting and unique things.

Have you looked at etsy.com? It’s a marketplace for people selling their own handmade goods. Not only are handmade things are less likely to be something that “everyone else has,” you also directly support the craftsperson or artist who made them. Everyone wins!

Etsy.com sells a huge amount of accessories, all hand made by independant artist and crafters. You’ll find things on there that no one else will have.

Yes, Etsy is a good place. You can even have someone make something just for you. I had a unique looking leather purse made for me and I love it.

My sister is the absolute QUEEN of finding unique, independently designed stuff on the internet. I don’t know how she does it! She has a delicious.com page here where you can look at all her links that she’s saved and tagged as “shopping” or “cute.” A lot of the sites will link to other designers’ sites as well.

Another thing you could do is try to find an independent craft show in your area. If you happen to live in an urban area, there are usually some going on once or twice a year. I’ve been to the Bazaar Bizarre and the Felt Club here in LA and the Maker Faire/Bazaar Bizarre in San Mateo (which is near San Francisco). I know they have similar ones in Seattle, Boston, and NY.

Also buy an issue of BUST magazine. Many, many unusual vendors in that mag.
