Will you be watching the super bowl for the football, commercials, cheerleaders or Bruce Springsteen?

I’m a commercial girl, but will have to sleep before the end of the game, anyway.

I’ll be watching dogs running around playing.

Commercials, definitely the commercials. The game is rarely very fun to watch (last year being an exception). But I figure if someone wants to spend millions of dollars to get my attention and sell me crappy beer, I owe it to them to watch so that next year they have to pay even more. And I’ll still be drinking my local brew.

I will be watching for the game since I made a bet with Allie on the outcome. I don’t remember what we bet but it was probably something stupid.

I have my money(?) on Phoenix.

I’ll actually be watching jonsblond.

she likes to wear this little cheerleader number…

None of the above; I’ll be at back to back movies with some girlfriends while our husbands have a Superbowl play date in front of the tv!

I’ll watch for the commercials but really I’m looking forward to the episode of the office that will follow the game :-)

I’m in a football pool, so I will be watching strictly for the scores only. Money to be won at fist quarter, second, third and fourth, so I have to watch the whole thing.

I’ve never watched a Super Bowl but I am going to a party anyway. I am promised that I may play darts in the garage and be around people I adore. That’s enough to get me out of my hutch. BUT now that I know Bruce Springsteen will have something to do with it (what position is he playing} I might pay more attention. I heard him in any interview on NPR yesterday and I liked what he said about family and priorities and how lyrics come to be written when one is lonely and desperate, that all songs are pretty much about the same thing. That seemed true and he seemed to me to be pretty doggone smart. I think I’ve missed a lot not getting to know him before.

i’ll be watching how fast the food i cooked gets eaten before half-time.

I’ll be watching the football game itself more than anything. I live in Phoenix, Arizona and the Cardinals might never be in the Superbowl again so this may be the only time I’ll ever get to see them in the big show.

Commercials! Duh…best commercials of the year.
No, seriously, I’ll be watching the game, too. Steelers totally beat Cardinals.

bythebay's avatar

@flyawayxxballoon- You’re from MD and you’re rooting for the Steelers????? I think that might be against the law.

flyawayxxballoon's avatar

@bythebay: I don’t know what part of MD you’re from, but where I live, almost everyone is in love with the Steelers, whether they’re in the Super Bowl or not!

bythebay's avatar

@fly: Are you close to the PA line?

bythebay's avatar

@flyawayxxballoon: OK, you’re forgiven! There’s a long-standing rivalry between the Ravens and the Steelers. I grew up a Redskin fan, but my husband is a Ravens fan so now I am, by proxy!

flyawayxxballoon's avatar

@bythebay: I appreciate the forgiveness.
I know a few Ravens fans, including my sister, but most of us root for the ‘skins and the Steelers. :)

The football… What else is there to watch?

@bythebay: Have fun, yourself!

No.

Vinifera7's avatar

I won’t be watching.

seVen's avatar

No , I don’t buy into any of it.

fireside's avatar

@Vinifera7 and @seVen – look at that, an agreement between your points of view! : )

bythebay's avatar

@seVen: Im curious to know what you mean, you don’t “buy into any it”? Are you just not a football fan?

1) Football! I am anticipating a good game.

2) Commercials – generally I hate advertising’s manipulative attempts to further the consumer mentality; but it is an interesting reflection on our society, so curiosity wins out.

3) Springsteen, I guess. It is nearly sacriligeous for me to admit that I’m not a fan, despite having grown up right next to his “Hometown”. He has written a few really good songs and a lot of mediocre ones. And I don’t like his singing voice.

4) Cheerleaders – I don’t watch for them. I fact, I despise their existence. They are a product of the media’s manipulative tactics to push a certain image of youth and sex in our faces, so that the masses will try to look like they’re 21 whether they are 14 or 41. It sickens me.

As a football fan, I think this game should be held in either Arizona or Pittsburgh. This nuetral territory idea for the biggest game of the season is bunk.

If you play the best during the regular season, you get home field during the playoffs. I think if you played the best in the playoffs you have earned home field adavantage for the Super Bowl.

Just imagine how hard Three Rivers would be rocking today. Imagine the strain the steelers would be under if they were playing in the Arizona heat.

That’s just my opinion.

it’s mostly steeler fans down in tampa today anyway
