Anyone have a recommendation for a digital camera?

Asked by arcoarena (692points) March 7th, 2009

I need a new digital camera. I was thinking something around the 8MP area with a fast shudder speed. My last digital camera had a very slow shudder speed I think because all the pictures always came out blurry and without the flash the pictures were unrecognizable. Also preferably something kinda slim that I can fit in my pocket comfortably. Nothing toooo expensive either. Any help would be great. Thanks!

The Canon PowerShot series are decent cameras that can be had for less than $300US.

I have an old Nikon Coolpix 4800, myself, that I like mainly because of the high optical zoom. Later models didn’t have that feature moving forward.

Yeah I have myself a Powershot sd750 and I love it. Great photos and good quality videos as well. I shot this entire trip with my sd750 (watch it in HD)

I personally will not buy one unless it has a viewfinder. It is too difficult to use the screen on a sunny day. Also uses too much battery. That is my other requirement, I like a rechargeable lithium battery. But at the moment I am using a PowerShot (Canon) 8.0. Has a 12x zoom and excellent image stabilization, but is big and uses 4 AA batts. So I also have a small Canon Ixus 10.0 that fits in my pocket very nicely but only a 4x zoom. Life is full of compromises!
