What should I drink tonight?

Asked by hammernail (31points) March 27th, 2009

Making my trip to the store in a bit, not sure what I feel like. I’ve been drinking wine too much lately, same with caipirinhas. I want something different. Maybe fruity.

I’d go with 7&7.. Or you can never go wrong with jack-n-coke..

Grab some Tanqueray, some lemon, sugar and sprite or tonic water and make a few stiff Tom Collins with plenty o’ ice.

I dunno, but I could really go for a rum and coke. (Wow. I totally just typo’d that as “rum and cock.” PAGING DR. FREUD.)

whackyrusty's avatar

@gambitking Agreed, was just about to post Tanqueray.

You can never really go wrong with bourbon and coke. Or a chocolate-mint julip. (It’s like a mint julip, but instead of mint, use chocolate-mint syrup. So good!)

Kool-aid.

Gin and tonic with a slice of lime. Un peu to ice.

This time of year, I like two drinks:

Mint Julep
– muddle fresh mint with 3 oz bourbon
– steep five minutes
– add 2 tsp simple syrup, crushed ice, top with Pellegrino
– mint sprig garnish

Pimm’s Cup
– blend 2 oz Pimm’s #1 & 3 oz lemon soda
– add crushed ice
– garnish with cucmber slice & lemon wedge

It’s getting nice out…in the nice weather I am a big fan of Limoncello (and vodka mixed with it if you’re looking to get drunk instead of just enjoy a drink) mixed with Pellegrino (or other mineral water, but Pellegrino Lemon or Lime is my favorite for it). Sooo good.

hammernail's avatar

Ohhh, limoncello is a good idea!

I have found that water is very refreshing.

can’t go wrong with Guinness

hmm I’m just bringing this up since its the last mixed drink I had, and although bizarre it was really good. I recommend getting drunk with this one.

Prepare some coffee, ice it down by pouring from cup to cup with lots of ice. Then mix half a glass of whiskey with the iced coffee, add two teaspoons of sugar. Enjoy the stars!

@GAMBIT that’s my drink of choice. My liver and stomach thank me for laying off the alcohol, too.

Maybe a glass of warm milk before bed. Then there is always water, I understand it’s good for you and will not destroy your health.

@VS – Glad to hear it.

Sooo… what did you drink?

alossforwords's avatar

Ultimate White Russian… 1 oz Kaluha, half oz Navan (vanilla cognac), half oz of Frangelica (hazlenut liqueur), 2 oz of sweet heavy cream over ice… add cinnamon sprinkles if you like a garnish and a hint of spice.

Depends if you’re looking to (1) quench your thirst, (2) drink something tasty, (3) get a nice buzz, or (4) get wasted and enjoy a morning-after hangover.

(1) Water or some kind of soft drink.

(2) Maybe some sort of exotic iced tea, or special roast or blend of coffee warning: caffeine won’t keep you sober, it will just keep you awake when you get drunk

(3) A few beers, mixed drinks of your choice. You probably want to have something to eat as well.

(4) A shot and a beer, a shot and a beer…and a shot and a beer, and a shot and a beer…
