Where can I get royalty free nude stock images?

Asked by jjosephs (115points) June 4th, 2009

I’m doing banners for an online adult store. Where can I get royalty free photographs of nude models? The copyrights rights need to allow public/commercial use for the website to be safe from legal action.

for some reason I totally misread this question at first, and I thought you were looking for free nude-colored stockings! LOL

Here’s one!

Wait, there’s nudity on the Internet?

La_chica_gomela's avatar

Here’s another one! And there are a couple more links on that same page to nude models posing on the beach.

She’s really hot, too bad she’s not safe for work. Well, I guess it depends on where you work…

Just a thought: eBay has thousands of listings for adult DVDs, toys, etc and many listings include photos of nude models. I’m guessing they are royalty free but you should take a browse over there and check with sellers whose listings contain photos of interest to you. They may be able to direct you to a source. Good luck to you. See ya…wtf

Thanks la chica, sites like stockexpert are ok but I was hoping for one more along the lines of met-art The only problem with met-art is that I don’t know if there images can be used publicly.

@La_chica_gomela: omg! omg! That woman has natural breasts, I almost forgot what they look like.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

@jjosephs: I doubt that they’re royalty-free. Met-Art is a for-profit business. That’s probably just the way things are. Free images aren’t as good as ones you have to pay for.

I <3 met-art.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

@hungryhungryhortence: You need a girlfriend, my man.

@bob_ I <3 met-art too!!! I think GirlofScience first showed me the site! Love it!

_bob's avatar

@La_chica_gomela Yay! High five! Do you also know Hegre-Art? Much <3

jjosephs's avatar

@La_chica_gomela they aren’t free. I’d have to pay a monthly subscription to get to the images!

La_chica_gomela's avatar

@jjosephs: My b, when you said “royalty free”, I took that as “without royalties”, not “free-free”. I doubt you’ll find nude photos that are “free-free” for the purposes you’re looking for. Everybody tryna’ make some money.

@bob_: What, no happy dance? ;-)

_bob's avatar

@La_chica_gomela Sure, just give me a minute while I think of math or something.

hungryhungryhortence's avatar

@La_chica_gomela: I live in a place where 8 out of 10 women I see everyday has fake breasts and it’s not uncommon for them to talk about and compare them in the ladies room.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

@hungryhungryhortence: Where do you live? Also, you should really check out Met Art. Bob_ already linked it. Real women are hot

jjosephs's avatar

@La_chica_gomela Yes, royalty-free and near unconditional use where I can do anything I want with the images.

Everyone steals images from everywhere on the web.
If you want unlimited use of anything though without legal implications you’ll have to pay. Especially if you want hot women. This is people’s livelihood after all.

There is some royalty free nudes on deviantart.com. You would have to dig through a lot of junk probably. I think in most cases you might have give credit; I can’t remember.

I would be cheaper to hire a model or two, get a release signed and take your own shots – if you are competent with a camera. If you aren’t then hire a photographer. Nothing that you download from the web is going to be both a quality image and free.

Many nude models would object to being associated with a sex shop so you need to be upfront abut that.

Royalty free means you don’t have to pay royalties on its usage. It doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay for the photo in the first place!

Good luck finding these but I doubt you will be very successful. Beggars can’t be choosers, and you are a beggar. All of the high quality images require you to at least pay to download the photo. There is simply no reason for a woman to give up quality photos of her naked body for free, AND to allow you to use her face as an implicit support of your website, which may be the case depending on how you use the photo. If this is true, you ALSO need to have a model release signed from that person, and you will not get this for free, I promise you.

It would be cheapest and most secure to make these assets yourself as @DarkScribe says.

Your only hope is to use Creative Commons (CC) on Flickr or any other photo site with a CC area.
