Could you guys please suggest some songs for someone who's in pain?

Asked by Saturated_Brain (5235points) June 15th, 2009

I just broke up. I’m in pain. I want to move on, but I don’t want to at the same time. In some ways, I’m just wallowing in the hurt of having left someone.

Does anyone have any good music for anyone to lift themselves up, meditation in solitude and to just move on from the pain? I need to be happier. I need to move on. But I don’t want to forget. That’s the last thing I want to do.

Any songs will be good. It doesn’t really matter where they come from. Whether it’s secular or religious.. Maybe as a side-category, does anyone have any good Christian songs to listen to for somebody in my situation who needs someone? If you’re not Christian it doesn’t matter anyway, I just want some music to help me with my emotions..

(Eg, I’m listening to Be Thou My Vision and Come Back to Me [David Cook] right now..)

When I feel somewhat that way relationship-wise I listen to Toto’s I’ll be Over You.

When I’m feeling that way for other reasons, I listen to something like Lordi, Soilwork or Trivium.

Oh and i know im not a guy, but music is not gender restricted – i listen to metal music when i am like that, cause i cant express my anger and hurt – the music explains it better and makes me that much lighter.

Aside from music – try exercise – walks, runs, weights – whatever gets your goat – get out there and be active and productive!!

When my husband and I seperated, I listened to Closer and Josh Groban by Josh Groban. It helped a lot. My friend played it to his mother during her last months. It comforted her.

My big brothers mastered the art of “Burn Music” when I was in high school, here are a couple of their staples:

Everything I Own Bread
How Does it Feel Slade Any other Flutherers remember this gem? Whatthefluther?
Baby I’m a Want You Bread (David Gates was one depressed fellow.)
Oh Brittania Ian Hunter
This Song is Over The Who
The Scientist Coldplay (Not one of their staples, a new addition of mine.)

When you are feeling better here are some more upbeat choices:
Hair of the Dog Nazareth
You Oughta Know Alannis Morisette
My Wife The Who
Love Stinks J. Giles
