I just eat for happiness!

I eat when I’m hungry.

I do enjoy eating. I mean, there is something really good about good food. But, there is definitely a happy medium. If I ate as much as I read, for instance, well, I’d just be another obesity statistic, wouldn’t I.
There’s a point where you stop eating, even if the food is delicious, because you’ve eaten enough to get by. (And we usually eat more than we need to get by, us lucky ones with the food, water, and shelter.)

In my case, I only eat to live nowadays and carefully too (I’m a diabetic and on a special diet). There used to be a time when I lived to eat and I did it so recklessly that I caused my pancreas to stop working correctly, hence the onset of diabetes. The happy medium is now long gone unfotunately.

I like to eat. I do both, but though I eat to live, whatever I eat had better be good.

Besides, who can’t live to eat when you have these things?

The_Compassionate_Heretic's avatar

We have to eat to live so why not enjoy eating?

aiwendil's avatar

@Bluefreedom That’s really unfortunate, sorry to hear it. Lessons to be learned for everybody, eh?

cyn's avatar

now I’m hungry!

applesaucemanny's avatar

@cyndihugs then drink water or something

cyn's avatar

@applesaucemanny I just ate orange chicken and a CapriSun.

Bluefreedom's avatar

@aiwendil. Thanks. It’s a major bummer but it helped me get my eating habits in order and yes, a good lesson is to eat certain things in moderation and not to take your health for granted.

applesaucemanny's avatar

@cyndihugs dang that sounds good

cyn's avatar

@applesaucemanny my cravings are accomplished!

I just eat when I get the munchies

Depends. When I used to be a workout mad-man, I’d make damn sure I was eating properly, every day – paying close attention to caloric and nutritional intake.

Now, I just eat whenever the grumblin’ of my stomach overpowering the whirring of my computer’s mechanisms becomes an annoyance. Quite frankly, as of late, I’ve learned to ignore it.

YARNLADY's avatar

If it’s bacon, sausage, mashed potatoes, then live to eat, most other things I only eat because I’m supposed to.

aprilsimnel's avatar

I do like to eat, but there’s other activities that are on par with eating for me.

Usually, it only takes a look at a scale to tell you the answer.
I try to keep my weight at a healthy level. I can pig out and live to eat or starve as long as my activity level matches my intake.

I’ve always had a really small appetite so I guess I would have to say I eat to live. I think I might live to drink though, oops !

SirBailey's avatar

I eat to live, except when it comes to cake.

I am a foodie, by choice. I enjoy good food, unusual food, and I think life is too short to eat cheap and ‘quick’ food. A well prepared meal is by far better than that regurgitated garbage that passes for food at the fast food places. I also won’t eat fast food because some of the people that work there I wouldn’t want to shake their hand, let alone let them touch my food.

Home cooking is where it is at, and I find creating great meals for friends and family to be the ultimate in joyful activites. Most of my recipes are many pages long, and filled wth the little personal touches and details that make eating an enjoyable experience.

I will also take a person’s dietary considerations into account when preparing food. I just ask that people give new things a try; to be daring when it comes to exploring a new culinary experience.

I love food, and food loves me!!

I find that i do live to eat and like @Bluefreedom I am also diabetic. Type one in my case. I eat what i want regardless of my health. I do try to stay away from the sweets and the carbs, but somtimes i just cant resist (esspecially the chocolate!) :(
How do i change? Will it take something like me losing a limb or an eye? meh, i don’t know.

MerMaidBlu's avatar

I do both because I’m hypoglycemic and I have to eat 6–8 times a day or I end up passing out or feeling like shit :)...but I love food and it makes me feel good. Especially if it’s something I’ve never had before

Bluefreedom's avatar

@evelyns_pet_zebra. It sounds like eating at your place is fine dining experience. Can I come over for dinner? =)

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@Bluefreedom sure, just call ahead so I can make a trip to the store. There’s a place in town that sells turtle meat, and it’s been awhile since I’ve cooked up a batch, so let me know and I’ll go buy about ten pounds.

Bluefreedom's avatar

@evelyns_pet_zebra. Will do. I’ll be over before the end of Summer.

Clair's avatar

I’m a Taurus. I live to eat.
And I’ll never change my ways! Arg! :P

I fall into the same category as @evelyns_pet_zebra, in that I like interesting and new food. But, as someone who mostly didn’t eat processed food until I started living on my own, I have to work to avoid it. Sort of like, I want to see what all the fuss is about. Maybe. Although I love cooking/baking, I hate doing dishes!

If it’s something I’ve had before, and/or had a lot of, I can take it or leave it.

If it’s something that seems like it would be yummy, though, I have a hard time passing it up.

I’ve gotten better about avoiding the store-bought cookies and cakes. They taste just so-so and don’t make me as happy as eating some nummy homemade chocolate chip cookies, or homemade cheesecake, brownies, etc.

evelyns_pet_zebra's avatar

@evegrimm let me know next time you bake up some nummy cookies or cakes, I’ll be right over with a gallon of ice-cold milk.

Although I enjoy eating quite a bit, I don’t usually pursue it as if it were an enjoyable activity. I’m not sure why. I tend to put off eating until the last minute, rather spending my time doing other things. When I’m spending time with my girlfriend it tends to be the other way around. We tend to plan our days around our eating activities.
