If women were in charge...?

Asked by InquisitiveAquarius (157points) August 1st, 2009

who do you think would make outstanding world leaders?
My personal choices would be:
Shami Chakraborty, Angela Merkel, Germaine Greer, Hillary Clinton, Arundhati Roy… to name but a few…
I’d be interested to hear about other women who are modern trail-blazers in their fields across countries and continents…

Most of the women in politics think like men, so I’d guess it wouldn’t change.

Women are in charge. Haven’t you noticed? They just don’t bother with symbolic roles anymore, they go straight to pulling the strings.

I absolutely agree with allansmithee. In fact, look at any woman who ever became a leader. Most of them (and I don’t just mean Thatcher) even started wars in order to prove they weren’t too “soft”. Politics is by definition a man’s domain, in the same way the nursery is a woman’s. A feminine woman would be as out of place in a premier’s chair as a macho man holding a milk bottle in one hand and a baby in the other.

One of my favorite leaders was Golda Mier. Indira Gandhi was also terrific, and the late great Corazon Aquino.
Of course, we have Sarah Palin…

I don’t know about particular women other than Sarah Palin and Condaleeza Rice. But I think the country would be better off being run by women! :) No offense to the men!

… the world would be run suboptimally. Society should aim for a 50/50 distribution. Diversity is a strength. On average men and women are somewhat different. Why? Because it made survival easier for our species. Ignoring 50% of our total brainpower is a scandalous waste of humanity’s potential. Both ways! Today the world is run suboptimally by 90% men. Let’s continue to change this. And let’s pick smart and educated women and buy Sarah Palin a Crazy Chicken computer game, so she can go around hunting without endangering any real species.

I dont think it would be all that much better I certainly dont think Hilary Clinton would be the way to go…anyone that seeks power probably shouldn’t be allowed to have it maybe we should just submit to the rules of fate and chaos and pick a different leader every 2 years by random lottery….at least life would be more exciting
