How many 2 litres of pop should I bring?

Asked by The_Inquisitor (3163points) October 28th, 2009

The numbers I have for guests aren’t exact. At this point, I still have guests checking their schedules. But I expect about 20–30 people. How many 2 liters of pop should I bring that’s enough to last 2 hours? I have three bottles of two liter pops right now, but now that I think about it, I’m not sure if that’s enough for them.

I’d say 8 or more, in different varieties. Include a diet and a caffeine free. :o) Figure 3 people to a bottle.

Not even close to enough. I would think that you would need about ten.

None you should bring soda.

None. Get what everyone really wants – alcohol.

Alcohl is the gateway to a sexy time. Or a bad morning. Or both.

Buy a lot. A dozen or so should work. If you don’t use it all at this party I’m sure you’ll find a use for it in the future. Soda lasts a while.

@IBERnineD Ahhhhh you beat me to it!

Wow, well then, you guys can probably all tell I’ve never really hosted much before. But thanks! :P

I suggest 20 Mountain Dews, mmmmmm!

I’d pick up a couple more 2-liters. It’s better to have some leftover than to run out during the party. When I get soda for a party, I try to get a variety. Something diet, something lemon-lime, something with no caffeine, and/or root beer in addition to regular old Coke or Pepsi. If there will be kids present, I’ll get lemonade.

Our parties typically involve generous amounts of alcohol, so having soda that people typically mix with drinks is crucial. :)

I would say a total of 6, and some bottled water. Not everyone drinks soft drinks.

It’s better to have to much

@Pandoraboxx, I agree, I usually only drink water or milk… occasionally other stuff. haha.

@curiouscat I agree with @PandoraBoxx. As a water drinker, I appreciate it when there is something besides soda available.

@PandoraBoxx Water is a soft drink. A soft drink refers to anything that isn’t alcoholic.

Just a quick FYI ;)

But yes, you should definitely provide alternatives to fizzy drinks. Pure juice, cordial and bottled water are all good alternatives.

What kind of an event is this? It’s only two hours?

I’d suggest

* 3 bottles of regular cola
* 2 bottles of diet cola
* 1 ginger ale
* 1 lemon lime
* 1 other drink like lemonade or limeade
* Bottled water

That way everyone’s covered and if you don’t use everything at the party you can always bring it back home. Also, look for good sales at Target and Safeway. They often do “4 for $5.”

Oh dear!!

@figbash What about us juice lovers? :(

What? We have potlucks all the time with that amount of people, usually 5 two liters is quite sufficient. I think 8–10 is going a bit overboard. If you run out people can drink water but we’ve never had that issue. We also usually have a non-soda alternative. Probably a pack of bottled water would be nice.

I’d say six.
