Have you noticed how good-looking boys get in the 5-10 years after high school?

Asked by faye (17857points) November 27th, 2009

Seeing the thread about a reunion brought this to my mind. It is actually maybe more years. Some of the boys that were quiet little guys in high school sure came into their in theirown late twenties! and the ‘hot’ guys were looking kind of seedy. Same of course with girls and this covers another thread about revenge-just leave it to time!!

I dunno… I saw a photo recently of Jon Hamm (Don Draper on Mad Men) and maybe he’s an exception. He was damn hot in high school and he’s absolutely smoking hot now, some 20+ years later.

Then again, I’ve seen my share of guys from high school who were dorky-looking or otherwise unattractive to me and stayed that way, well into the college years and beyond.

As for me, I was meh in high school, but I look a lot better now. For some of us it takes a while longer.

I have to disagree with this one. Ten years after high school, a good portion of the fellas that I went to school with have either a “bit o’ pudge”, a receding hairline, or both.

@jmah i got your bit o’ pudge right here….~

The hottest guy I knew in high school, your basic blond god, became short, fat, bald and married by the time I was just finishing up college. Some guys don’t age well, I fear.

However, it is true that many of the shy, skinny, geeky guys with zits (the kind of guys who were stuffed into lockers by the blond gods) have come into their own during that time. You have to admit, even Bill Gates now looks pretty good compared to back then.

We’re much cuter around six years-old.

sorry, I screwed up the writing of that question!

Yes. I have noticed. They are not awkwardly skinny boys, but awkward skinny men or muscly…it depends

It’s because they turn into Men… Much more attractive than boys. Unless you are a girl instead of a woman.

I have totally noticed that:) Course it’s causing me a lot of distress, cause that geeky guy I turned down for prom is now smokin’.

The geeky guy we all tolerated turned into a millionaire by our 10th class reunion…. AND was smokin’ hot to boot!

I ran into a man I had been so in ‘love’ with in high school. His teeth are gray and he’s chubby.—well, I’m chubby too—sigh

It is true. I wonder if women are programmed to be attracted to men. And, both sexes kind of lose their baby fat as they move through their 20’s and masculine features are more angular, which becomes more pronounced as we lose some of the “fat.”

I met my husband in his early 20’s and I swear he grew a little taller and kind of filled out over the next few years. I know it wasn’t in my mind only, because his mom came to visit when we were dating, and when we picked her up at the airport she looked at him and said, “you are taller.” He is 42 now and he looks better than ever (hate him).

Both women and men tend to look better as they grow into themselves in my opinion.

@JLeslie Men often seem to age more gracefully than women. Women have more body fat, and that startsa saggin’ after a certain time. Where as it doesn’t have that way with men. I mean, Sean Connery, sex symbol at, what, 80? Still looking good? How many 80 year old female sex symbols do you see out there! Men suck!

@Val123 I guess maybe we are influenced in our society by the idea that women are sexy when they look able to make babies and men are sexy if they can provide (financially). Lately I have also noticed that many times the average middle aged married woman looks older then her male same age counterpart.
