How many computers do you have?

Asked by pjanaway (3002points) December 5th, 2009

How many computers do you have in your home? And what do you use each of them for? Are they even nessesary, or do you have them just because you can! :)

I have 6 pc’s (3 quad core and 3 dual cores) and 2 laptops (1 quad core and 1 dual core). All bought in the past 2–3 years. I think I’m obsessed. :P

I have 3 Dell workstations, two laptops and a netbook.

One desktop for me and for gaming, one older desktop for whatever my parents do on a computer, and one laptop for me while I am at college.

P.S. None of them is a Mac because Macs suckkkk FLAMEON.

Counting the iPhone I have 6 internets at my house.

We have three. Macbook, Toshiba and an old tower that we can’t get rid of (it’d be like getting rid of gramma).

Right now, I have 2. A Dell laptop that has Windows 7 and Linux on it (it’s back at home) and my main 15-inch MacBook Pro that I took to college with me and am using right now. The Dell is more for fun; it was a replacement for my old Dell that I used for most of my high school life.

My dad has 8 computers. 8. 2 of which he built himself. 1 is a Dell desktop that he bought new. Then he has a brand new iMac, a MacBook laptop, a Dell XPS 16 laptop, and a few other weird ones, including one with Linux.

I don’t even want to try counting how many total computers there are in our house…but when you have a dad that’s a computer enthusiast (try nutjob), there are going to be a lot…

Edit: I think there are 16, counting my laptop I have here. Half of them are my dad’s, I have 2, my siblings all have a laptop, my mom has a laptop, and there are a couple community iMacs.

I have 2 PC’s, getting a Mac soon, I built one of them myself. I gathered things from an old one that we used to have and got the programs we needed.

Sheesh. I just have one. And when it’s not doing what it’s supposed to do, that’s enough!!!

@DominicX Do you like Windows 7? Does it work good?

pjanaway's avatar

@DominicX – I recently upgraded the computer I am on right now to Windows 7, the rest of mine are on Vista though. Should probably upgrade them. Haha :)

@jbfletcherfan – Windows 7 is great, I’ve had it for a month now, its so quick, haven’t had any problems with it. Its a thumbs up from me. :)

@jbfletcherfan Have to second @pjanaway about Windows 7. Haven’t had any problems with it so far and I’ve installed a lot of stuff on it. Now, I haven’t gotten much chance to use the computer, but it’s been great so far. It is definitely fast and it hasn’t crashed yet. We’ll see. :)

I have a laptop (for school) and a desktop (in my bedroom at home). My parents each have a laptop. My sister has a laptop. And there is a family desktop (which nobody uses).

@DominicX & @pjanaway…thank you. I’ve heard good things about it. A far cry from Vista, I’m sure. I never had the“pleasure” to use that. I’m still on good old XP.

If iPhones count, I have 4 “computers”. 2 PC’s, Wii, and iPod touch.

Currently three; a 3.4 GHz Northwood P4, an Athlon X2 4800+, and an Aspire One netbook.

The Athlon is our roomate’s rig and he does what he does on it.

The P4 is primarily my wife’s now, but I sometimes use it for gaming, transcoding, burning DVDs, or when I just plain get tired of the 8.9” 1024×600 screen on the netbook. (Both towers have 20” widescreen LCDs running at 1600×900)

The netbook is mine all mine. Mostly netsurfing, some reading (many PDF files on it), and it has the added advantage of me being able to take it out on the porch when I go for a smoke break.

Six. Four gathering dust. One dedicated strictly to AutoCad and this little headache box I’m typing on now.
