You can’t go wrong with a KitchenAid handheld. I’ve had mine for 10 years.

I have one like this and it’s lasted me 15 years. There’s one particular brand in this style that offers a lifetime guarantee, that’s the kind I have.

Make sure the box does not say Made in China on it. Kitchen Aid is a pretty good can opener.

Hmnnnnn. That’s funny, every single coffee brewer I buy breaks and every dishwasher, and every washer and dryer, and every toaster, and every…

Buy a top quality and use only as directed. In general, every tool needs replaced on periodically. There are few made to last longer than 5 – 10 years.

I just bought a new one because my twenty-year-old Swingaway can opener didn’t break exactly, but it has a harder and harder time opening cans properly.

I just buy the heaviest and sturdiest one I can find, which typically ends up costing about $8 to $10 US. Then I use it for about 20 years or until my son takes it out in the garden and loses it.

I did just buy two stainless steel vegetable peelers, a set of those Titan Peelers as seen on TV!, for $9.99 and they have been wonderful. I tend to go through vegetable peelers like crazy but these seem to be lasting nicely.

@YARNLADY 5 years would be great , these last only matter of weeks/ months . And they are never cheap they are quality products , yet they still break

Definitely look for one that is sturdy and heavy and will probably cost a bit more than others but it will pay off in the long run. Any opener after time will deteriorate because of normal wear and tear and the cutting wheel will become dull. Obviously a really cheap one won’t last long at all. Also I have to agree with the comment about www.thetitanpeeler.com I also bought one and it is my favorite kitchen gadget and I use it faithfully everyday.
