Should a person log out of their fluther account when they aren't using it?

Asked by liminal (7769points) January 30th, 2010

I just noticed that my sweetie walked away from her computer, leaving her fluther page open. I think this is a sweet way of showing her my support for her new interest and being a smart ass. I wonder if she will learn some sort of lesson. (No, I have not gone snooping through any of her writing :P.)

I would say you should log out because I would think the more people that’s logged onto it at once, the slower it will go.

Log out if you’re worried about people getting on your computer and messing with it. Otherwise, that’s only more unnecessary work to log out and log in.

Might be a good time to investigate user account and fast user switching. I personally don’t mind if my GF looks at my stuff. I would be pissed if she posted as me without my consent. But sometimes she takes over for me in the chatroom. It is scary how well she does all the the things that make my comments unique.

@Self_Consuming_Cannibal assuming this sites login works how i think it does, it does not work like that. it would only make that aspect of the site slower if you constantly logged in and out. just remaining logged in while off the site with tabs closed would not affect it.

i say log out if you dont trust those who could potentially use your computer.

Not wrong at all. Maybe she will learn a thing or two about computer security. Hell start posting some of the good stuff she has on there.

I feel like I could trust my sweetie to not F with my account if I’ve walked away for a moment. There’s no need (in my house anyway) to log out if I’m just goin’ for a pee.

Hello all. Thank you for the answers. I have reclaimed use of my account and promises to never pull this crap again. And, for the curious, I probably won’t start logging out every time I walk away.

Yes log out when you are not using it if you have people in the house. I love fluther because I can be myself and no one in RL (except for my girl) knows who I am.
