How do I edit information on iTunes (more specifically)

I have an iPhone, and on iTunes, when I navigate to my music menu, all my music is shaded gray and cannot be edited.
I edited it through my playlist but it doesn’t change on my main music menu

If you go to the iPhone tab in iTunes to browse the music currently on the phone, you cannot edit it directly from there. The same also happens with iPods.

You have to modify the information in your iTunes library first (ie the tab in the upper left), then sync your iPhone in order to update the information.
