I have set my printer to "scale to fit" on 8-1/2 x 11 paper. Why does the printing continue to run off the right side of the paper?

we need more details... there are a million reasons this could be the case. what kind of printer? what kind of computer? what program are you printing from? you say you've set your printer to "scale to fit", but do you actually mean that you've told your computer to scale to fit?

An HP PSC 1610 all in one printer. A Dell computer with XP. It happens with anything I print from the internet--from copies of internet orders to instructions from the internet to eBay auction pages. It never used to do it. Yes, I have a printing instruction that I can check (turn on) that says, "Scale to fit 8-1/2 x 11 page" or something like that. It works sporadically, but since it's not a default setting, I lose it and have to go back and reset it after I lose the prices of the things I have ordered--after the prices have fallen off the right side of the paper. Do you understand what I mean? If not, PLEASE ask me more questions!

And that reminds me of another question! How do you change a default setting so that I don't have to keep going back and changing it all the time. For example, when I print out a bunch of pictures, I have to change the default settings for paper size, ink settings, etc. Is there a way I can change the default settings until I get done with a particular project and then change them back when I'm done?

while i'm not overly familiar with windows xp, i'll try to help figure this out... first of all, the fact that you're only having margin problems when printing form the internet suggests to me that the problem isn't with your printer but with internet explorer. one possible solution is to download and use firefox instead of internet explorer, which is a good idea for about a million reasons, but the one that we care about right now is that it might have a "smarter" method of printing. if it were me, i'd start there.

as for your "defaults" question, on a mac i can easily save a "preset", but i don't know how to do it on xp. i'm sure it can be done.

Yes, I have used firefox for several years now. But the problem now occurs, even with firefox. But thanks for your help!!
