What does this logo look like to you?

Asked by Mitchell_Lewis (216points) March 25th, 2010

I’m doing some brand designing, and I want to make sure I’m not getting too abstract. What do you see when you look at this logo?

At first glance, the Hartford Whalers logo.

As above, although if you look hard enough there’s a fish on a hook.

The only that comes to mind is the color. I don’t like the color. No particular reason.

3D and to me the color scheme seems to distract from it just a little.

It is easily read as 3D. Clean and clear information. Basically a good design! But it didn’t “grab” me. If you have time, work with it some more and see what you can come up with that would add some punch.
If this is for a company, remember that it will have to be used in black and white as well as color, so try working with it in B&W to see what you can come up with. You will have to work with only texture, shape, and depth in B&W. If it works in B&W, it will work in color.

@buckyboy28 LMAO at the Hartford whalers! <3 I don’t really see it, but i loved them! (and their logo was brilliant). And basically Jewel said everything perfectly about your design. It’s definitely easy to see it’s 3D, but it just needs to be refined. Here are some classic examples that work really well: http://www.goodlogo.com/images/logos/3m_logo_2424.gif ; http://www.goodlogo.com/images/logos/k2_logo_2509.gif ;

Hopefully they inspire you!

3d… Looks like I’m not the first with this idea.

Yeah I see 3D. You’re doing things based on it? But it’s nice, maybe it should have a little bit more detail.
