What are your thoughts on the British woman who got a bad migraine and it resulted in her having a Chinese accent afterwards?

I think it’s quite an odd thing to happen! Though if I were stuck with another accent, I guess I’d go for something Eastern European… I’ve always liked those accents!

I’ve heard of this before. The last one I knew about, she got a British accent.

The brain is an amazing, fragile and yet resilient thing. If I got the choice I would take a stereotypical Oxford-educated accent so when I laugh it would come out sounding like ‘hnyah hnyah hnyah’- which would entertain me to no end so I would laugh constantly.
I’m laughing right now just thinking about it

I think this is one of the most interesting things to happen to a human brain. How is that even possible? Boggles my mind!

If my brain decided to change accents, I would like for it to be Australian.

You really have got to love the human brain haven’t you…... what a fantastic story.
I’d like to have one of those Eastern European accents, so I can pretend to be a Bond villain.

I would prefer to have gotten a puppy.

I’ll take an Irish accent, so I can move there and fit right in, and get a job conning American tourists into buying overpriced hotel stays right near (insert made up legendary figure)‘s tragic death location.

@ucme
Anyway,you don’t want to have sex with a Chinese person as you’ll be horny in 30 minutes !
PS: to the politically correct morons,that’s a joke I got from a Asian person!

Not to be completely and absolutely racist, but maybe it makes sense that a little brain damage might cause someone to speak in a Chinese accrent?

JeffVader's avatar

@Pretty_Lilly Hahahaha, thats bad :)

Storms's avatar

@Pretty_Lilly I don’t get it.

@Storms

Y’know when you eat Chinese food, and because of the rice expanding in your stomach and digesting quickly, you’re hungry again in a half hour?

Storms's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr Oh. I loti (laughed on the inside)

we call those “airplane jokes”. They go right over your head.

This is not that uncommon. Rare, yes, but not horribly so. It is called ‘Foreign Accent Syndrome’, and is a type of Aphasia.

@erichw1504 Well not really, if someone has a trauma to some part of the brain and ends up with a speaking problem ,whatever that may be, it’s not really a big deal, the difference in this case is that said speaking “problem” happens to sound like a foreign accent…
