What is your favorite kind of bed sheet?

Asked by mowens (8403points) May 14th, 2010

It’s time. I need new bedsheets, and I want the softest kind I can get. I want people to be jealous of my sheets. What are the best?

I like Egyptian cotton,400 count in jewel tones or white.I don’t think you have to go much higher than that.I like to hang them outside to dry in the summertime. They also have to be tucked in at the bottom or I will kick some ass.Yes,I am that specific and don’t give a sheet if anyone has a problem with it.;)

I find knowing a bit about thread count helps me make informed bedding decisions.

I have surprisingly found well made flannel sheets and “t-shirt” sheets to be very comfortable and oh-so-soft. The flannel being most durable.

Of course, a seamless silk sheet set is rightly show stopping and getting people to stay out of the bed could prove difficult.

I haven’t found any sheets more comfortable than jersey sheets when it comes to softness. They don’t get all stiff like traditional cotton sheets do. Plus, you can find them in some adorable prints!

Jersey sheets aren’t that expensive, either; I’ve seen sets for queen sized beds at Target priced around $15.

I just got 1000 thread count cotton sheets. Oh. My. God. It’s like being wrapped up in love.

Has anyone ever tried modal jersey knit sheets?

Jersey Knit. They feel like tshirts.

I got 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets for maybe $200? 5 years ago from Overstock (this is a great one and it’s even cheaper than I paid!). My sheets are amazing. They got softer and softer every year and I still use them as my main set of sheets. Go for quality and get them from a site where you’ll get a great price.

Freshly laundered.

I tend to get hot, so flannel and jersey are out for me. Plus, flannel tends to pill and get less soft. These days, I’m all about the 400+ thread count cotton. Very soft and as @melissamiranda said, they just get softer over time. (wash them before you use them the first time)

I’m with @Lightlyseared.. freshly laundered sheets are the best!

I would have a hard time sleeping with @lucillelucillelucille because I like to kick the sheets loose at the foot and sides of the bed. Otherwise, I like high thread counts, color or crisp white, and clean and smooth.

But I’d still give it that old college try!

When I visited Indonesia the first time I had sheets that had around 1200 thread counts. It was like sleeping in butter. Heaven.

I’ve never bought over 200TC which I like but we tend to sleep with flannel (cold room, flannel and down). (-; I’d like to try those 1K TC sheets, though. lol I will NOT spend $100 on a set of sheets. No way.

I’m happy as long as they are 100% cotton and at least 400 TC. I do not like cotton/poly sheets or jersey knit sheets. I do have a set of flannel sheets that I used during the winter; I liked them.

I got my 1000 thread count sheets from a guy selling them on the street corner. Paid $25 bucks for them. Best money I’ve ever spent. I don’t even care if they fell off a truck. ^_^

Egyptian cotton, earth tones. Clean and wrapped around a warm body.

Also clean. ;-)
