Have You Had Injections to Your Head Before Having Stitches?

Asked by Aster (20023points) June 23rd, 2010

Have you had an injection(s) in your scalp for stitches or to have a lump removed? How bad was it?

I had to get stitches right above my eye (in my eyebrow) when I was a kid. It’s not the same as the scalp but it’s pretty close and pretty sensitive. Before giving me the stitches, the doctor (a plastic surgeon) numbed the area in at least a dozen different spots that I remember feeling the needle sticks for. I had gotten hit in the head with a baseball bat and it busted my head open. I ended up with 23 stitches. It didn’t hurt to bad. Mostly you’ll feel a pin prick and then a little bit of stinging when the lidocaine goes in (kind of similar to a bee sting).

Like TWELVE bee stings?? God.

I have had stitches around my eye too. To me it was not that bad- like a pinch then pressure.

Really I would imagine the sensation varies depending on where on your head the stitches are.

Not in my head no. I have had them in my taint, the sole of and top of my foot…does that count?

Yes, it hurts like hell. Mainly because they are sticking a needle into the cut. But it only lasts for a second or two.

@Merriment Nope; doesn’t count. lol Feet are different than scalps.

I have migraine headaches and have had needles stuck all over my head. I was really freaked out the first time, but it was no biggie. Didn’t really hurt at all.

@aster -Oh…how about taints (perineums) where do those stack up?

Aster's avatar

@Merriment taints? what’s a taint? A friend of mine split her head open and she said the shots made her scream. Encouraging.

@Aster taint is located on the edge of the rectum

Specifically a taint is the skin between the rectum and the vagina on women (and more safely located between the rectum and scrotum on men).

It often tears or gets cut during childbirth. Hence the need for stitches.

I would have screamed when they stitched mine up….that is if I could have caught my breath….
