My dad bought one when they first came out. It was about 15K. That was 1985 dollars. But now you can get one for about 1K.

They are super cool. It was jaw-dropping what they could do when they came out compared to a oxy-fuel cutting torch.

I would recommend looking around on the internet. They are great for cutting thinner metal, if you need to cut through thicker metal (over ½ in) you will need a cutter with higher amperage settings so you will be paying alot more. Plasma cutters are not cheap, but I get to use them alot in my job. The best cost efficient way to cut metal is with an oxygen-acetelyne torch.
