What are some really fun and creative "get to know you" type-games?

If you’re a teenager, definitely truth or dare. A classic that allows you to learn about others and share yourself. :)

“I’ve Never” is along the same lines as “Would You Ever.” Someone says something they’ve never done, and people who also haven’t say so. Sounds cheezy, but it can get fun.

“Two Truths and a Lie” is when people say two true things about themselves and one lie, and people try to guess which is the lie. It can be pretty revealing, as long as it gets past the “my favorite color is blue…” phase.

@PrancingUrchin haha I am a teenager…and well I’m not sure about everywhere, but in VA now you don’t see much of anyone actually utilizing the “truth” part of that game lol, but it is really fun!

A friend of mine came up with one we called, “No Guts, No Glory Scrabble.” Basically, you play a word in Scrabble, then one of the other players asks you a question about yourself. After you answer, all the other players vote how honest and heart-level your answer was, on a scale of 1–3; 1=superficial answer, 2=honest answer, 3=tear-jerker. Then, your Scrabble word score is multiplied by your answer’s score as voted on by the other players, so 1x, 2x, or 3x. You can work out a system for who asks the questions in each round, so everyone gets asked questions by all the other players at some point.

By the end, you’ll definitely know the other players better. It’s also the only way I can be competitive in Scrabble. (-:

scattergories > truth or dare + charades

i think scattergories is the only game i really really love.
oh, or “marry bop kill”. talk about immature fun.
says one website: Want to spend some quality time not doing your job? Then play a game of Marry, Bop, Kill. You give 3 names, then the person has to decide which one to Marry, which one to Bop(yeah, it means what you think) and which one to kill.

1) Two truths and a lie (Likerada mentioned it)

2) You have a bag of candy…ask people to take a some pieces of candy…pass it around…after and only AFTER everyone has taken their candy, tell them they need to tell one fun fact about themselves for every peice of candy they took

3) Not really a “get-to-know-you” game but, have appliances written on slips of paper. Break into 2 groups and each group must “act out” the appliance (like charades) while the other group guesses what appliance the group is acting as.

Forgot one: The “I like” game.
You have 10 chairs and 11 people (or whatever number, just have one LESS chair than people). Everyone except the person who is “it” finds a chair. The person who is “it” says “I like [something]”—it could be “I like cheese” or “I like spotted zebras”—whatever—and everyone who also likes that thing stands up and finds a new chair, including the person who is “it” (cannot be the chair next to you). Whoever cannot find a chair is now “it” and the process repeats.

Two of my best friends and I played “I Never” for over an hour in my car. We did it with our fingers; you put a finger down if you had done the thing the person said they’d never done. We almost ran out of ideas toward the end. We revealed some awesome things that night and fogged up the car to high heaven. It was at night while we were parked on a street corner…lol

@DominicX and @Likeradar I’ve seen a version of the I Never game on Family Guy, where one person wold say something they’ve never done; and if the other people in the group had done it, they had to take a sip of beer. By the end of the game, poor Quagmire passes out! It was one of my favorite episodes =D

Yeah, I love that scene. We were thinking of doing the alcoholic version, but decided that might not have been the best idea. :P

One thing we always used to use as an ice-breaker at meetings we attended – was to have everyone pull a coin out of their pocket. Then, look at the date and tell everyone something that had happened to them in that year. It was pretty interesting and didn’t push people to share more than they wanted. It’s pretty easily transferable to a social setting, or a bar setting.

I’ve found that “pass to the left and drink whatever’s in the shot glass” works after a couple of rounds. For more excitement, have 2 shot glasses, one going clockwise, the other counter clockwise. Sucks when you get 2 shots at the same time.
Brings a lot of noise and interaction among participants.
I know its more of a drinking game, but it’s still fun and creative get to know haha

This is the funnest party game when people don’t know each other.
As the guests arrive put a stickey nametag on their back with the name of a famous person or a fictional character. The goal is to ask people they don’t know yes or no questions about who “they are” and try to guess the name on their back. By the end of the night there isn’t a stranger in the room.

When I met my wife, we played Monopoly, which I am insanely good at. I let her win. I don’t recommend that game.

I’ll stick with strip twister… you get to know your buddies real well in a hurry….
