Silence of the Lambs because it kept us on the edge of our seats, and afterwards, we were afraid to go home alone in the dark.

@Vunessuh Martyrs was done very well and it was very disturbing. That movie gave me nightmares.

I can’t think of any others besides mirrors. I couldn’t look in a mirror for a while.

I love Evil Dead! One of my Fav’s!

As for more recent ones, I thought that The Mist was pretty good.

Drag Me to Hell, was good, made by the guy that did The Evil Dead. Also I would like to add that Martyrs is one of the most fucked up movies ever made, just wrong. But good.

Winters's avatar

@truecomedian I thought that Drag Me to Hell was way to obvious, and I personally didn’t like how they messed up what the Lamia is supposed to be according to legend.

FREAKS. Seventy-eight years old and still scary as hell.

The new “The Crazies” wasn’t bad at all, I thought it was pretty damn good, though when it comes to endings, The Mist will probably get you good.

The Others.

I white-knuckled it through Pandorum, Right At Your Door and 28 Days Later.
Splinter was just plain freaky.

@Austinlad This Freaks? Because I just find that one kinda sad.

@Winters
That’s just the directors style, but I think I know what you mean. What is the Lamia legend?

ucme's avatar

I found this a pleasant suprise…....or should that be unpleasant?

Winters's avatar

@truecomedian The Lamia was originally from Ancient Greek/Libyan Mythology, with the first Lamia a beautiful queen that became a snake woman that seduces men and eats children (however not all Lamia’s are beautiful so some just eat the children). Apparently it became the/a basis for succubi and vampires.

The Pit and the Pendulum with Vincent Price. I was scared the first time I saw the movie.

Recently watched 2 surprisingly good movies, not the best, but goo! “Splinter” and“Whisper”

Both Cloverfield and Blair Witch Project were terrific movies.
Alien and Aliens both scared me to the point of being unable to sleep, and were quality films.
And who could deny Psycho?

I really liked “A Tale of Two Sisters” . . . shudder If you can stand children being crushed to death, evil stepmothers and subtitles.
